Yagya - Rigning (Dub Techno, Minimal, Ambient) [album]

One of the finest (if not the finest) Dub Techno albums I've ever heard. The opening track is perhaps one of the finest moments of electronic music history (my preference could also be related to it coinciding with my Iboga experience):

The tracks are in fact all quite similar, and it sounds more like listening to one long electronic soundscape, with subtle variations. Favs are probably tracks 1, 6, 7, 9, 10.

Great album, I liked it much better than the new sleepy girls album.

This album is the only reason I know what dub techno is. Tried getting into the genre a bit after this, but just couldn't find anything with the same "spirit".

My thoughts exactly, pretty much. I don't even listen to dub techno, but this album I believe is pretty much required listening for any electronic music aficionado.

My friend recommended it to me, saying all his other albums aren't really worth listening to. So I probably won't...for now.

Sleepygirls is a lovely album as well, in my opinion. Perhaps it would sound better if you listened during a life-changing psycho-active trip but I'd still give it a try.

Fair enough, thanks for the heads up. Definitely an artist to look out for in the future, as well. Will eventually check his other stuff and decide for myself.

There are some good tracks on sleepygirls, but as an album, I like Rigning much better. Take a listen to the other ones though, you may like them. ;)

Will do so, cheers. :) I've listened to some Dub Techno in the past, but I must agree with MaxC, as I don't recall hearing anything quite as good or in the same spirit as this. A true masterpiece of electronic music.

I dunno, I loved this album years ago but listening to it now it does feel a little.. heavy handed to me, I guess? Probably not the best way to put it for an ambient dub techno album, but the basslines seem a bit clumsy to me, listening to it now.

Been listening to the album, Will I Dream During The Process? which I would consider his 2nd best (from the 4 that I've heard so far - first 3, and Sleepygirls).

Really enjoying this track, which reminds me of the vibe in Rigning:

Only rather enjoyed two tracks from Sleepygirls (track 2 and 8) and one track from Rhythm Of Snow (Snowflake 02). The rest I found pretty forgettable.

Been a Yagya fan ever since I heard Rigning Niu a few years ago. The atmosphere in his music is just incredible.
