Yo, I used to own some turntables. Scratched some old Hot Boyz records on them. Lil Wayne . Way back.
But anyways, how can I get into DJing with a simple set of something?
What do you suggest? Two turntables and a mic?
For real, though. What does a dude have to do to get started in this game here? |

You have two options:
2nd hand Tech: 1200's from eBay
OR
Pioneer PLX-1000's
My choice of mixer would be Allen & Heath.
Any of their range that you could afford would be good. I went with the 23c. Its cheap but not traktor certified altho you can run mix vibes timecode on it and plenty of others. The drawback is you have to open it and unscrew, plug in 2 leads and your done.
For starters I'd get the regular Xone 23.
It has the closely almost all the features from it bigger brothers except midi and extra channels i'm sure.
What are you planning on doing mixing reg 12's or timecode? |

Get some used CDJs and a used mixer. You can actually get a decent A&H or pioneer mixer for a couple hundred. Make sure the cdjs arent so old that they dont take Usb sticks.
If you go with non pioneer cdjs, you can get everything for $500. Then youre gonna need some good monitoring headphones as well as monitoring speakers. $65 for sony mdr v6 phones. Add in another 200 for some decent 5 in monitors. |
