i can sell the hilo for 1,800 and get the solution above is what i mean't. With the leftover money treatment is just beginning.

Keep both. Just imagine how good the hilo will sound with PMC's and proper room treatment.

And since when are you short of cash or have to sell to buy more ?

but the PMC's have its own DAC inside wouldn't it be logical to just use 1?
DJ RANN
Wat?

Then why the do you need AES connectivity or that converter box? :conf:

Whoa calm down, wow take a chill pill brother.

In order to connect a mac pro 2014 model to the PMCS i would need the solution i mentioned in the first post. (without needing a hilo) duh.

For someone like Rann yes, but me, not really. Its def cheaper than a duet.

What you need is usb to aes xlr. Not optical to xlr. I thought it was possible through Ethernet as well? What did pmc say when you contActed them? Some weird this aes bus.

They offered me the DMC but also gave me some stuff on the optical to Aes as well. Optical or usb to Aes XLR, i doubt there's any difference.

Edit: You're def right I would need a USB to Aes XLR cable which is even cheaper.

Juan before you start trying with your silly little insults, try not mkaing yourself sound stupid in the first place.

The box you have listed actually makes perfect sense, if indeed you can output from the mac pro in digital format (via toslink) convert it to AES (and that box does exactly that) then plug straight in to the speakers which is how they are meant to work.

USB is not as simple as you think - firstly the clocking is done completely differently and as AES 3 is the standard by which SPDIF is carried (but you knew that right :p ) there's no clocking changes at all.

So there IS a difference between USB to AES and optical to AES.

But go ahead, let palm confuse you - at least it's a change from you confusing yourself :gsmile:
