Haven't seen much talk around here of Gus Gus... also feel like I may get raped here for posting about these guys.
Seems to me they're definitely pushing a sound that has a huge amount of mainstream appeal, but I think may have fallen out of favour to more underground forms of house and techno for the most part.
Recently it's been accessible big-room melodic tech-house, not really the kind of stuff I'm generally into at the moment, but I can't help but enjoy quite a few of their tracks as cheesy as they are, there are some sweet hooks in there. If you haven't heard the "Arabian Horses" album, go and check it out. Some of the material in their back catalogue is more varied with lots of trip-hop stylings.
It's actually their live performances and use of eurorack modular systems that led me to discovering these guys. Dieter Doepfer has even built prototype modules for these guys, which later spawned some of his successful cross-fader modules. I feel they've slipped under the rader a bit and surprised we don't hear more about them really, or perhaps I've just been ignorant.
They have also reportedly established a concept whereby they are posting a new track to their soundcloud each week on Friday, but seems it's turning more into once a month. They are also working on a new albumn apparently due in June.
Any other fans here? If so what tunes do you recommend?
Cheers and peace. :)

My girlfriend really likes them, so I've heard most of their new stuff. I'm not going to lie, the opening lines of Arabian Horse put my hairs on end. A proper skyscraping vocal. That live video you've linked is really good, we've watched that before.
I wasn't much of a fan of Obnoxiously Sexual from last year though - a really, really terrible lyric and title - although the remixes seemed to get hammered by all the German fluff-techno DJs.

Cool man, it's pretty easy to see how they would generally appeal more so to girls than guys, probably a good thing for the dancefloors.
Gotta agree with the comment regarding their lyrics, I find them aesthetically functional with their music, but yeah semantically they're terrible. "Over", would be a better track if the lyrics were even a little more intelligent, but in the end it's about the sonics more so than the semantics, and I find their production chops pretty interesting and inspiring. Obnoxiously Sexual doesn't really do anything for me either, I guess much of their more recent work is shooting for the mainstream, which personally turns me off, but it has it's place.
This live performance is a little older illustrating my previous comments regarding their back catalogue, it's quite different.

I've got no problem with pop dance as long as it's done well, and Gus Gus do it a hell of a lot better than wankers like Avicii or Hardwell or whoever is in the charts today. But yeah, they're a completely different band now compared to the days of Purple and Believe.
