All my threads are drunk. I thought it was normal?

I think it speaks volumes for this forum that this hasn't turned into a trivial flamewar.

Though we have those for far more stupid reasons on a regular basis :D

That's because all the cool people here use (and bitch about) both Macs and PCs. ;)

Tools are just tools, only the end results matter.

I've only had it for a year.. I still can't determine if its the Mac or sound card (saffire pro 14).

The power light comes on the saffire but that's it, I'll know more on Monday when I try the card in another machine.

Edit:

Update..

Its decided to work now all of a sudden :conf:

I don't get it although I am not complaining.

Thanks for wasting our time :p

However for anyone reading this, it's a cautionary tale for FW users;

NEVER HOT PLUG ANY FIREWIRE DEVICES. It's not like usb which is master to slave - firewire is a peel to peer device with different wattages/current involved meaning it's super easy to fry a FW bridge, either in your device, or far worse, your computer.

Very welcome :gsmile:

Well I'm busy waisting my own time atm doing a clean install with yosemite.
I guess now is a good as time to finally update and get rid of all the on my hd I don't need, and time machine is all ready and waiting to be put to use with mavericks when I discover non of my works anymore :haha:

Nah I think any compatibility issues have long been sorted with the plugs I use so hopefully all will be good.

As for the firewire, well I'm not a fan of it but I have no choice due to my virus being a bitch with all the usb ports on my mac :whip:

Yosemite is honestly great. I've actually had no compatibility issues (well apart from perian in quicktime trying to convert everything rather than just damnwell playing it).

I actually have grown to love the fresh install. Not fun on a PC but on a mac it's done in like an hour.

I just don't think I'll be able to move past snow leopard

I had an ubuntu install on an old laptop and honestly everything about it felt right, glad Bitwig is around even if it's not spectacular it's still enough to convince me to switch over to linux. But I say that now we'll see how I feel after dealing with the reality of it

EDIT: also getting better at Gimp too which was a nightmare at first having been used to photoshop for like 10 years but it's basically all the same
