^ the above song is exactly why sasha sucked. He didn't play anything melodic. Startrd with generic tech house and went into drumcode stuff. The energy marcel's set had was like 4x as much as sashas. This may have been the worst I seen sasha LOL. Techno always brah. Marcels songs varied a lot more than sashas throughout the set ?
I wanna relive marcels set via recording and compare it to svens from last year. Still trying to piece some songs played together
dinosaurbingo
can you post what you got so far in terms of tracks they played. missed this one. I know MD played this
yea dat one was mentioned earlier. i feel like i knew more but i don't remember right now

Ferrer and Foss delivered, Sasha was good and Dettman wasn't, imo. Well, not for this lineup and wasn't a fan of his kind of techno.
Other gripe about EI is how dark it gets when the sun goes down, there's virtually no lighting and that kills the vibe a bit... just wait til Labour Day when the sun sets even earlier.
Other than that, it was a great first experience. Toronto knows how to throw done and well done. Great seeing Knox and of course all the female talent, which actually blew away Mtl in that dept, surprisingly.

his type of techno is pretty much what techno is now. you like tech house. the next events and the previous ones would be more up your ally.
i think I'm out of the loop now. everyone posting reviews seems to like the same typical sets we always get here, and when we get a different booking at the island for a change only swamper and i enjoyed it LOL
:nervous:

Dettmann smashed the island to smithereens... I am not a techno head at all but Marcell put on a show of epic proportions, I can't get over how amazing he was... Deff the best set of any EI imo... my previous fav sets were Dixon and Green Velvet but Marcell boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy that was on another level of techno goodness... he was like boom boom bam and I was like oh gawd... most of my team our into more vocal or deep house and we were all blown away...
I had the chance to go to a drumcode event at a warehouse in brkln 2 years ago and I skipped it and now realize I made a big mistake...
because the island was so damn dark at night it made the techno work...
I didn't see Dennis which sucks as I am a fan of his work... I caught half of Lee's set which was on point, sasha not a huge fan but he played a really solid set as well...
Overall for me I think the line up was balanced perfectly, every EI should be structured this way... The following 2 EI's aren't structured this way...
back to the techno god that is dettmann, man he was so good lol I was able to shazam Bjarki - I wanna go bang... Can anyone ID what song he played at 9pm while he was waving the Canadian flag and another song he dropped at about 10:05pm...
I remember dancing in the middle near the sound and lighting tent and this couple says this is boring... I look at them and I'm like really? the guy turns to me and says I'm more into progressive... I'm like progressive??? do they still make that? Hes like yeah Marcus Schulz... I'm like yeah schulz sure... than the guy comes back n was like I really liked dettmanns set from movement... I'm like sure you did and you went to movement and you don't like this?

really? for me Marcel only played hot fire for 90mins... it was like 90mins of assault on my cerebral cortex... It was relentless, like watching my girlfriend shopping at a buy one get one free shoe sale...
planetaryplayer
Yea he did play fire but it was like a classic here a new track there. Didn't have a stagnant sound. And that guy was boosting. Dettmann was loads better at the island than movement- I caught both in entirety. At movement he was between rodhad and klock so the way he played was different as apposed to destroying the place. I said earlier of the sound was on point that island woulda sunk or erupted.
You didn't miss much with the drumcode party. They play a lot of generic dj tool tracks to warm up before playing their style of techno which is closer to tech house imo.
Nobbie Q
Yeah I can't explain it but he does vary it up a bit. It is relentless techno but somehow it's not repetitive.

it was a drumcode dettmann party in broklyn... so much fomo...
I don't think that guy was boosting, just full of lol
as noobie said marcel was relentless fire...
I was under the impression marcel and the drumcode crew played a berlin industrial techno... is this correct?
planetaryplayer
Drumcode and dettmann arent similar at all. When I thinknof an industrial sound it's like more of guys like perc and truss, maybe even surgeon.
To me the way I explain it to my friends are the loops/ repetitions are faster so it makes the song seem like it's a lot harder. A lot of reviewers would call it more minimal. I can hear similar features from like older mills and hood tracks. All I know is none of the berghain crew has dissapointed me yet. Check out steffi. She has a lot of deep house and plays a lot of stuff sounding like drexciya. She's dope

The bass lines very and the synths or main sound in the track are pretty different even though it's like 130bpm and a constant kick. The last song he played was so good. I was out the gate and ran back to stand through it
