Hi

Currently looking for the best algorithm for changing pitch on a mac.... I know different programs are good at doing different things. I need it for changing entire tracks pitch.

Thanks

You can do it in logic, or even garage band. And soundforge, and wavelab. And melodyne. take your pick. I'd probably just do it in logic. Nice and easy.

ableton, just import the track, double click on it.. and then adjust the transpose in the bottom left hand corner.. That's really quick.. plus you can select "complex" and have it preserve pitch..

This has also been one of my concentrations of late.. I've been doing some arp work using whatever chords sound good.. and noticed subtle artifacts that imo have been deteriorating the overall sound quality. I've figured that (in Ableton) you can go in and under the midi folder, add "scale". Select the key in which you're working in and none of the notes fall out of key.

I've also noticed these same artifacts in vocals. Though a program like Melodyne would work, in Ableton I've added a vocoder, sync'd up to the chord progression. This keeps the vocal in line w/ the rest of the track- though some harmonic dissonance will be lost..

Speeding up / lowering the BPM of a track degrades PITCH! to fix that in Ableton always select the "complex" button when adjusting a tracks parameters.

Pretty much any audio editor should be able to do this.
