Scuba - Claustrophobia (new album)

Anyone heard this yet? Once again, very different to his previous album. It's darker and moodier than Personality but much more of an unashamedly big room dance record than Triangulation.

I must say that Scuba's always-glorious sound design is better than ever here. Some of these cuts sound ing massive on a sheer sonic level, if nothing else. Case in point:

rubez
good sweatbox, and even psy quality to this. dark and satisfying.

not sure about the stranger to stability like hook. that could get annoying... wish there was a dubbier version, interested in the rest of the album, scuba has some great .

Got on pre-order. Music definitely fits the title.

i enjoyed a track or two, put it off to the side for now, but will probably get it in a week or so

While Personality was decent as far as production goes, I only liked two tracks from the album. To me it just feels like there's more of an idea here. I'll have to give it another listen to see if anything sinks but I will say Levitation is pretty awesome.

Sure, the sound design is good but ever since he finished with dubstep for good, he's just been perpetually artistically confused. Once again, i'm not getting any sense of direction here except for 'ok, let's go darker this time'.

sounds like standard tech-house stuff, im not hearing anything that special?

It does back frustratingly away from being an an all-out big room record, but after an initial listen I definitely like the atmosphere of the whole thing, which is pretty strong and cohesive. Definitely one to listen to in the dark.

Who makes tech house like this? Any examples?

I guess the whole album does have a cohesive mood, my problem is more with how the actual tracks sound, they just feel.. off to me. As if someone stuck in the whole hyper-cinematic, IDM-y 'artist album' phase from the early 2000s tried to make edgy dark techno.

Sasha actually played "why you feel so low" in his recent set at Ultra last week. Was listenig to the et on youtube. Have nop heard the rest of the album but damn that track was nice!

I fell way off the Scuba wagon tbh. There's not really anything here based on the clips that I'm really interested in. Some of it does sound nice though, he's definitely got some excellent sound design.

this is probably my favorite album so far this year
