If age of love was the tech trance track that Markus played, then I don't see how that's vibe killer lol.

No Offense, but even if marks was doing a rabbit hole set, it still doesn't fit with DT sound and crowd, imo.

Let's be serious here guys Markus's rabbit hole sets have had TONS of repeat tracks in the last two years and lots of entry level techno.

His Burning Man set of all things was utterly pathetic.

How many times do you need to hear Walking with Elephants and Grindhouse?

When he's on it he can throw down no doubt.I have a lot of respect for him for getting me into the darker sounds and I think the dark tech trance sound is really really great and can be almost as powerful as the harder techno if done right but he has been off his game for a minute now.

Like I had mentioned before he's been armin-ized ;)

And now he gets tiestracized for it.

Markus is definitely spinning some terrible music these days. And when he does go into "rabbit hole" mode, as BPM PHIL said, he plays the most common, entry-level that has been heard before many a time. There was a time when Markus was amazing but not anymore. He is firmly in the mainstream EDM "trance" camp these days.

I would actually say that he has been Ferry Corsten-nized. Armin, although his style has changed in recent years (there are times when I hate it), he does put on a sick set every once in a while. Listen to his main stage 2 set from ASOT Utrecht and his, surprisingly, ASOT Miami set -- he starts off with some really dark techy stuff.

I definitely agree that markus has joined those ranks, but his rabbit hole sets are still pretty solid to me -- not the best -- but solid.

Huh?

There's a reason I didn't even think about going to his party this year. He has been slowly going down the Armin route and once I got burned with cheese at one of his shows I shoved his ass into the "DJ's I will never see again unless hell freezes over" list. I had a lot of good times at the guy's sets but I'm not that big a fanboy to overlook what he is currently doing.

This makes me sad.

I mean, I hopped off the Markus train a few years ago. But I was listening to some of his older sets this past week, made me think I should try and go to one of his sets this year...all this talk makes me think I need to keep my distance for a bit longer.

If you do, just visit one of his marathon sets. Those last few hours will definitely be worthwhile, IMO. Don't expect anything like his older sets though.
