TIME WARP RAVE REPORT:
Words cannot possibly do this event justice but I'll do my best. We arrived to the event an hour after it started to a massive line/group waiting to get in and started worrying how long it may take but surprisingly it was very quick and efficient and we were inside within 20 minutes.
The best way to describe TW is really a mini festival all in one. The venue (Maimarkthalle) is one of the biggest venue I've ever been in. 6 different floors (rooms), a massive area with what had to be 100 picnic tables for chilling out w food vendors, more than enough lockers, merchandise areas, bathrooms, bars, etc.
Floors 1 and 2 were your main rooms and then the other 4 your "smaller areas" but still holding thousands. Despite 20k people, getting through the crowd and having enough dancing room was never an issue! Also, TW has the greatest idea I've ever heard of...every time you returned your empty cup or bottle, they gave you back 2 drink tickets toward your next one! Imagine being at an event with 20k people, and having the floor completely clean!! Smartest thing I've ever seen done at any event!
To me, TW really is like the yearly reunion for the top techno DJs. The sets they throw down are like nothing you'll hear them play anywhere else and the fun you can see they're having is just so true and genuine knowing the magnitude and honor to play this event.
The sound and production were impeccable with body shaking bass and some of the best lasers and lighting I've ever seen. They could have used some more mids and highs but I'm not going to nitpick on that. This was without question the most organized and professionally ran event I've ever been to in my life! Traffic of people flowed consistently throughout the event, and I NEVER once waited more than 5 minutes the whole event trying to get a drink or use the bathroom because there were ample stations for everything along with more than enough staff working!
The vibe, respect, and maturity between the people was also unmatched like anything I've even experienced. An 18 hour marathon event with the bar open THE WHOLE TIME and not once did I see a single person too messed up or being belligerent or disrespectful! Staff/security were courteous and helpful with any questions you asked if you needed help finding something and even shut down the capacity to certain rooms at certain times to not overcrowd them and ruin the experience. When talking to people we met throughout the event, their jaws dropped when we told them we came all the way from NY/Toronto just for Time Warp! They were so impressed.
Combine all this with the people we met and the friendships made along this techno journey and this really was the trip of a lifetime! Best rave I've EVER been to and willing to say this is the best event in the world. We met the nicest and most genuine people on this trip from London, Whales and Germany and needless to say we will be returning and hopeful our paths cross with our new friends again soon.
This is an ABSOLUTE MUST DO event for any techno lover.
Time Warp 2016....we're coming for ya again!
Top 3 sets:
1. Joseph capriati
2. Carl cox
3. Sven vath or pan-pot.
will try to figure out how to post videos here on TA or just link my youtube channel. |

sounds like you had an awesome time, im glad you enjoyed it
question was this the first EU festival you've been to? Not to knock it, but it sounds on par with everyone's 'first time' at an EU festival
TW is a big one, but there's also Awakening's which is pretty up there with techno festivals and cocoon in the park. |

thank you!
my whole trip cost me $2000ish for the 5.5 days we were there
flight 1100 (had we booked 4 weeks earlier the flight was 700. we were hoping they would drop a bit more after the new year)
hotel 250 each for my friend and I
and the rest was spending money. i exchanged about 900 US dollars which got me around $750 euro (i got raped doing it in the airport so that was my own fault) and I spent freely. i didnt hold back at all and my money lasted all the way to the last day. everything in germany was so reasonably priced. i was pretty shocked myself. |

ah the good old TE, which i thought were good but they were nothing like TW/Awakenings
i think for the most part, all EU festivals are better than US festivals. i think it's generally the people who make it a worthy experience |

i agree with you 100%. TE was amazing but not even close the level of TW. and yes the people make the party but i also feel the promoter does also. european festivals arent oversold for a major $ grab and the professionalism and organization is top notch. Im pretty much done w US festivals at this point once my 2nd trip to Mysteryland USA is done in a few weeks |
