Bella is solid. A bit hit or miss in my opinion. I've seen really good sets from her like last year at Ibiza Underground and Enter she ripped it with Randall.

Lol ive always loved his sets and style. I know hes not popular on here but i dont care. His sound is MASSIVE on a good system.

Even self-professed Richie haters like diablo admitted that he played a great set at Movement 14 :tongue3:eyespop:

im not saying hes always terrible. he was actually ing pretty awesome at svens 50th last year. well after his first hour. im just not gonna go out of my way to see him or skip anyone else for him.

at awakenings we ran into some friends who were on their way to richie for his closing set. they were like "come with us" i laughed and said nope and kept walking. no ing way.

:haha: You make it sound like Richie is some kind of talentless hack! "no ing way." There's a reason why the folks behind Into the Valley are letting him close it out...they know he's going to in' bring it! And judging by the rest of the lineup and timeslots, I'd say that these festival people in particular have a keen eye for curating an electronic music festival properly. It reminds me of how Movement is organized.

hey i said he doesnt always suck didnt i? hes not gonna get a better compliment from me.

and the reason theyre letting him close (to overkill this joke) is theyre hoping he'll push a speaker on some poor girl so that the festival will get more press. pffft, cant you see that?:p

Safe travels, homie. I look forward to hearing about it.

Don't forget to check some other out, too :p

full review to come later...just got to my hotel in Stockholm and I am just absolutely exhausted from 3 days of partying in the frigid woods of Scandinavia. But suffice to say that that festival was the most jaw-dropping thing I've ever attended. Real quick though, the top sets were Aril Brikha, Ame b2b Dixon, Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin (yes I did check out MCDE for a little bit, it was solid, but c'mon, the Hawtin set was absolutely monstrous), and Beyer b2b Engberg.

Checked out Nick Jaar but that sound is not for me. Meh. Carl Craig was kinda boring for a closing set tbh so I quickly jetted to mainstage to see Klock who put on a truly epic dark Berlin techno set. me.

Gonna grab a bite to eat somewhere and then pass out. I have loads of videos to come later.

Haha yeah I admit, those two can in rock it. I thought the 20:45 timeslot was absolutely perfect too. Honestly, Four Tet was probably a mistake for the timeslot before them. Ben UFO came on at 1700 or so and it seemed like he wanted to go harder but he knew that Four Tet was afterwards and so he held back, which was a shame. BUFO's set was still good but I've heard the guy can really kill it and I don't think we got to hear what he's really got in the tank.

Still, minor gripes. No festival is perfect. Once Four Tet was done, the Innervision boys got things started quick. They played a remix (not sure which one) of the Damian Lazarus and Ancient Moons track "Vermillion" which ignited the place. Sun was starting to go down and the lights were becoming brighter and the quarry was all of a sudden electric. Their set actually reminded me of how Diggers played at Treehouse last WMC. Similar style. Beyer and Ida went on after and played their trademark minimalistic yet melodic Swedish techno. Hawtin then went full blast with incredibly bassy and hard techno -- never heard him play that intense before. Was truly nuts.

Got to Day 2 relatively early, around 2 pm or so. Ate not one but two sandwiches from the burger/pulled pork truck. in good! Then went to check out Nina Kraviz. Never paid much attention to her but I was stunned at how good the set was. Forgot to mention this in the initial mini-review. She was rocking it -- blitzing the crowd with fast-paced tech-house and even full-fledged techno tracks. And in damn she is sexy -- her mannerisms and vibe behind the decks was fun to watch. And she was barefoot, mixing with vinyl only. Definitely had the stage charisma and presence that some DJs just do not possess. The Ar : pi : ar guys went on next and they played exactly how their fabric cds sound -- trademark minimal Romanian house and techno. Intricate, layered sounds, perfect vibe for late afternoon, early evening. Tale of Us got canceled :( . But no big deal, got to see my man Aril Brikha on the secondary stage play some ethereal, euphoric, high BPM techno. The Swedish crowd absolutely ate it up. Axel Boman went up next and he picked up where Brikha left off, only more eclectic and harder.

I had met a cute British girl who wanted to see Nick Jaar badly so I said why not. Definitely was not my cup of tea though! Went downstairs to see Recondite. The guy has great tracks, and they sound amazing on that system. But it's the same set I've heard before from him on various mixes on the internet -- guy needs to step it up I think. Still, very enjoyable and I'm glad I finally got to see him. Went upstairs to see Carl Craig and bolted after 15 minutes because I was curious about Klock. And so glad I did. That guy is a mastermind. W. T. F. My phone had died at that point so I did not get to take any videos. I do have videos to share and they are uploading so they will be up soon.

And the best part about life at the moment is that I get to see Jesper Dahlback on a rooftop tomorrow night at Slakthuset in Stockholm and then Bicep on Friday night in a proper Swedish club. I want to move here. Lol. All the Swedes I've met have been telling me the scene is really picking up and there's usually multiple good shows per week. Evidently the local DJs are really good. Judging by the pre-party last Thursday night (forgot to mention this, was an absolute show - was held at the campsite and everyone got absolutely smashed), and the performances of guys like Boman and Brikha, I'd say they're right.
