I don't think it's a bad idea for them to have certain items available like fries, onion rings, burgers etc. stuff that is easy to make. |

Coda DOES bring in the top DJs and they try to max out their profit by splitting these DJs over several nights instead of combining them on the same bill. |
I prefer that over these sample platter 90 minute festival sets. At least you'll get a 3-4 hour set from a solo headlining set at Coda. |

Maybe things have changed now, but I've only seen sets there from Sasha, Ame and Art Department that have only lasted 2-2.5 hours but someone correct me. If they're only gonna play that long, you might as well have them all on the same bill.
But yeah they do have some guys pulling in extended sets but that's only when it was advertised (Danny Howells lately). I'm not so sure otherwise... |

| I wouldn't say top DJs as much as I'd say trending or what's hot. The main issue ibe had at coda was sub par opening acts and this EDM style do called deep house being beat to there. It's come to this - if there is no show in Toronto id rather go to Brunswick house or maddy to get some younger skanks |

the door movements they pull makes it more "special" for ppl to get in but I'm not playing that game. I really hope Nest and Red Niteclub put the heat on them. They're clubs with 2 rooms and could do something bigger with multiple headliners in each room or something... |
yeah agreed 100% the door ******y is ridiculous beyond any club I have ever scene from 12-130... with tix or without... i feel its because they don't know how to make a correct line up or not allowed to use the entire side walk due to some kind of silly bylaw... I don't know...
yeah we need coda to have proper competition to give us a better overall product... but coda's bookers clearly have a good relationship (or lots of money) to get the trending dj's from the larger talent agencies... I'm not sure on what kind of cash flow or relationships the guys behind nest and red have...
I think coda (platform?) like ink has contracts with certain agencies... and having a contract and a good relationship with these agencies will go a longlonglong way in securing in demand talent... |

but like who? MK? its not like they're bringing in this terrible Hannah Wants person or oliver heldens homo.... and the other dick dressed as a priest...
coda does deff bring in trending dj's (even thou they brought mk 2 years to late)... |

It's mostly locals but internationals that would come to mind - pleasurekraft, amine edge sharam jay. Off records pretty much, dirtybird.
That being said I also fell out with artists like Damian Lazarus, hot since 82 and pretty much that whole genre/ style .
Never had any problems at the door or with any staff at coda |

I get your point, but I don't really classify them as edm or commercial sounding per say...
I think it would be great if we had a club that had sectioned off spaces where on a bigger night you can open them up to create a larger room... I kind of miss large club... more specifically I miss guv but like with you know better music lol |

| Coda may have relationships with top DJs booking agencies but keep in mind that two of the people that bought into Nest are among the main guys behind BPM Festival - and we all know their lineups are nothing short of spectacular. |

Looking at BPM bookings it's not much different than what we can or have been getting here. It's a lot of that tech house or tech-house techno. The names I been bringing up in earlier posts have impressed me though.
Ppl gave to guv for doing dj mag bookings, but the 'underground' clubs book off RA list just the same. There's not many outside bookings besides the popular guys. I like what bok, format, jad have been doing but they need a bigger home.
Revive footwork ! Make a techno club.
The two room thing- we need more of that, book a popular dj, and maybe a niche one in the second room. I also wanna see label showcases here, but we need longer hours for that |

lol
I think footwork just got a revival, some chick posted on trc a pic of a renovated fw... and its all neon... lol the pics made the space look cheap to me....
yes label nights would be wikkid... i went to the crosstown rebels one at moskito... really enjoyed it... i think the problem is some djs or maybe their agents don't want them to play here becasue they wont get paid as much as other parts of the world or promoters wont bring them because they don't think they can turn a profit... |
