arp and delay on midi keyboard

this seems to be a software mainly type of place, but i'll ask anyway.

would it be possible to get an arp and delay dialed into a midi keyboard for live use? (not ableton)

the keyboard has 8 pads, 4 buttons and 4 knobs... i think the knobs are 270 degrees.

wouldnt say its software mainly, plenty of people with HW in here

as regards your question i havent a ing clue what your talking about, what do you mean dial in an arp and delay?
rubez
as in map the buttons/pads/knobs on the keyboard to control effects from your DAW.

namely an arpeggiator and delay. so i can trigger them without using the mouse (after the initial set up of course) with the keyboard while playing live.

ah ok - you just want standard MIDI mapping then? All MIDI keyboards will send midi CC, else nobody would bother buying them, as thats what theyre for

So what you want is either a midi keyboard with some controller knobs or just a controller with sliders and knobs, nanoknontrol 2 is an example of this

loads of choice out there

would the alesis V25 specifically be capable?

i know it could trigger them on/off easily, but i have no idea what would be needed to control the effects properly... as in the depth, different type, up, down, up-down, timing, 1/4, 1/8 etc.

here is the keyboard.

well every parameter that you would want to control separately would need a knob

so if you wanted to map 8 different things, all at the one time, then you would need 8 knobs

that one you posted looks like it only has 4, i would go with 8 as a minimum

a button/pad wouldn't do in some instances instead of a knob?

You're being resourceful, but trust us, measure twice & cut once. don't short yourself, pads are ok, theyre great for triggering samples but they are a little annoying when you map them for button stuff. You'll want regular buttons/switches as your ideas for mapping increase.

sometimes but they are primarily intended for sample triggering

like how would you increase the delay wet/dry or feedback with a pad/button? You cant really

I would look at something like this instead:

Here you have some faders and some more knobs. If you could move up in price I know the AKAI MPK49 have 8 faders, 8 knobs, X3. You have three different control banks that you can shift between. Something like that could be useful.

Yea, its called a synth.

space is an issue and i can't play the keyboard for , so a 25 keys one will do, may even be beneficial.

the alesis v25 looks like the most compact keyboard with knobs and buttons.

of course more knobs would be better, but does anyone actually have a a solid figure on the minimum amount of knobs you would need to pull this off? to trigger the effect and manipulate it.

lastly is it definitely possible to arp or delay a hardware synth? it has usb midi data but no sound over usb midi.

cheers.
