it's not like you were having some incredibly deep and thoughtful discussion on this. Aside from L4C, you one other response was Mystery telling you your flash of genius gave him an std.

I'm also really not old, I'm probably in the mid range of poeple in the prod forum, just been doing this (working in audio) since I was 19.

By all means please spark some sane "provocations", but saying the clap "sets a "call & response" structure which may degrade the seriousness of a piece. It renders everything more pop oriented.", is about as useful as saying synths make EDM interesting.

I really don't know what you expected to come from this thread? I'm baffled that you're surprised by the responses you got in this thread and the other one.

That's a good start.

I just like hearing people's perspective on subjects of my interest.

Everything was ok until you suddenly became serious and , which is not a bad thing actually. I like when people get angry, mad, tired or whatever the Mysterious guy said. It means the thread actually provided. Who knows, maybe that was my initial goal. To piss people off is not really a bad achievement. Or I just like doing things without a pre-fixed destination. Usually when people get really mad is the moment you can hear the most honest opinion, although it may hurt.

Sorry, I think the complete opposite. T'interwebnet, unlike real life, is not a place where people watch what they say. There's no sugar coating and bull gets called out.

Sometimes these angry discussion means people argue themselves in to a corner to the point of something irrational, and then you get meta arguments and before you know you're arguing for the sake of arguing, not actually discussing anything of any real use.

I do like a good back and forth when the points being made are valid and by people who really think about their opinions (and jeez, I've been involved in enough heated exchanges to be a witness to that) but the base starting poi t has to have some merit (and this one did not), otherwise it might as well just turn in to a cat .gif thread.

For instance, had you said "the clap can be so complex than just the 1 & 3 - furkers give me some discussion) well Richie would have banged on about romantic period composition, Dave would have said "in my day we didn't even have hands to clap with", Geoff would have said KVR have melted down over claps before, Juan would have said I am going to buy some claps then sell them again, Darek would have said nice claps, cheers, and mystery would have said, well you know, because he said it.

It's pretty scary how accurate this is.

I don't like setting up threads in that manner. If that's your way fine, but I don't see how this approach regards me. Keep doing it your real way. Different people, different ways.

Still don't see what is the problem here.

Of course we had hands back in my day. But, clapping hadn't been invented yet, so we just used them to bang rocks together.

you just take a concept , the backbeat and ask a valueless question.

A more interesting question would of been say how does the timing of the backbeat influence a groove. Why does a beat at 125 sound faster than a beat at 126 and what role does the snare play.

I just find that there is so much more interesting things to talk about and you ask about the validy of the clap.

Like asking about guitars and if they should exist.
