PvD just knows how to stay on top for many years.

On the contrary. Paul is very smart. By not releasing tracks, he has made his music exclusive thus driving up demand for himself and his parties. I know over a dozen people going to PvD @ Roxy dying to hear Second Sun - The Spell, Animation and other exclusive Paul tracks. If he released everything he would be like any other DJ. He's not in it for the money. A true music purist. |
more like true music idiot. anyways, i guess he is a little smarter this time though, as he doesnt play it on his broadcasted sets so we cant get sick of it. I think he did make a big mistake with empire though. Hopefully he will put it out sooner than a year or else it will be ridiculous. And also, i would say he is greedy by having only paul van dyk exclusive . he is already rich enough as it is, what is more money going to do to him. what cant he buy that he doesnt have. probably nothing, therefore, i wouldnt think of him as someone not in it for the money, because that is his job, so he has to get paid (which he does by djing i guesS), but by holding back those tunes and never releasing some good stuff, he is just greedy as he only has it to himself, haha, i say at one event he plays, someone should jump him, and jack all his , since they are cdrs mostly of the unreleased stuff, they hsould put it out in the mp3 scene, then everyone can have it, but i doubt that will happen, haha

true words of jealousy. We're all jealous of how paul remixes the songs, although i didn't really like Empire. :haha: |

If he was greedy, he would have released every remix, re-edit and re-work he has done. There will be a huge market to buy any of his works. Releasing tracks would be more profitable than DJing at 2-3 parties a week. His entire playlist is a re-work. I bet he can crank out a re-work a week. Why stop there. He won back the rights to "Avenue of the Stars." Why didn't he release that and get a few more bucks. Or Politics of Dancing 2. See my point?
Sounds to me like you're the greedy one in this picture. Wanting someone else's work for your own. |

Personaly i wouldn't call this intentional delayed release of music the result of being a purist. If you make good tunes first and are in it for the music then i would see that as being a musical purist.
Holding back releases for God know's how long is actually a kind of selfishness. He wants them all for himself. It's simple psychology, and i think i'd be tempted to do the same if i had mad tunes that everyone wanted. That's not to say he isn't entitled to do that, since he's the only one who's got the track (I assume) but i wouldn't call *that* musical-purism. :)
Just my thoughts... |

i havent heard more than half the songs he has been playing recently, and i dont really give a , or all the unreleased stuff he has, i havent even heard politics of dancing, all i am saying is, he shouldnt wait a whole year to release . i see a load of threads around asking when he is going to release , i am just trying to find a logical explanation of why he either takes so long or doesnt, about avenue of stars, i dont really care |

Fair enough. I want him to release stuff earlier too but I can understand why he doesn't.
Cheers |

It's one thing to disagree artistically. We are all different and thus have different taste. Diversity is great. But all 4 of your reasons why you dislike Paul is completely unfounded and purely based on igorant subjective reasoning. It more like 4 reasons why you know nothing about Paul van Dyk.
| quote: | | 1. Re-edits all pathetic, same track with different beats (wow!) |
I'm not sure you understand the concept of re-edits. A re-edit is taking a track and snipping bits in pieces in and out. For example, Paul's re-edit of Noemi - Y.O.U. (Mezziah Mix) he EDITED out part of the breakdown and relooped a few parts. Essentially re-edits are the original tracks rearranged. I sincerely hope you can hear the differences between the tracks in his re-edits.
By your description, I believe you meant Paul's rework and remixes. Many people point out that Paul uses the same hi-hat and deep bassline in many of his remixes and reworks. Funny... you're the first critic to point out Paul uses a different beat...
| quote: | | 2. Productions are lame/boring |
Artistic differences.
| quote: | | 3. DJing skills are crap, lame playlists, and signs on any popular track to his label |
For every example you can offer of his poor DJing skills, I can offer 10 examples of his superb DJing skills.
Define "lame".
| quote: | | 4. Never releases any of this songs, why? cuz no ones stupid enuf to buy them |
Angry... Did Paul kick you in the stomach in past to get you so pissed off at him? |
