Does anyone know of any newer tracks in a similar vein to Acid Morning or Vapor?

Techno generally pitches pretty well. What kind of tempo are you playing at these days?

Sure, but a lot of tracks will end up sounding a bit goofy if you pitch them up by 5 BPM. There's a lot of good records that are kinda useless for dancefloor usage if you can't pitch them to 130. In Berlin at least, unless you're playing the warmup, people will be expecting at least 130 BPM.

I like 130, it's a bit boring now but there's a reason why it's become so common. Still fast enough to be banging but not fast enough to drown out the groove and swing. Going up to 131-32 is sometimes nice though, for that extra tension and oopmhs.

Sounds interesting. Examples of this style? Most of the techno I find still seems to be around 126bpm.

Really? 128-130 BPM has been the standard BPM for dancefloor techno for years and years. If you go on Decks.de in the techno section for example and filter out all the minimal crap, almost all dancefloor techno is around 130. What is relatively new is the development beyond 130, I think for a long time producers were still scared about passing that 130 but that's largely gone now. There's quite a few techno DJs now that regularily go up to 135 or higher, some like Freddy K are known to often go up to 140.

This was one of the biggest techno hits last year and comes at a cool 135 BPM. (I once asked him if he had ever made a techno track under 135 and he said I don't think so :p)

I'm too lazy for Youtube so here's some random releases from the last 1-2 months above 130.

I know this is a terrible yardstick for numerous reasons, but I just clicked through the entire Beatport Top 100 for techno and counted a grand total of 5 tracks that were 128 or above, and the highest was 129. If you look through the names on that chart there is at least a wide variety of techno styles represented including quite a few respectable names. When I did my Detroit Techno mix recently everything from the last year or two was around 126 and I was pitching everything right up to get it to 132. The melodic Kompakt stuff obviously never goes to 130, and even the dreaded "big room techno" seems to be stuck around 126.

I like 115 to 120 techno. Especially the slower acid records.

Sure, I can see that, but you're basically looking at techno like it's 2008 and everything Beatport is king and then wondering why everything's still the same. Beatport doesn't represent what's being played in the circuit, everything now is being send out as promos to everyone and their mother and canned half a year before it hits Beatport. And then a lot of stuff never even makes it on Beatport or if it does it doesn't appear anywhere on the charts. If Beatport was representative, then most of what a huge name like Ben Klock plays would end up in the charts but that's not how it works anymore. Looking at the top 100 now, maybe 20% of that is actually being played in the 'serious' techno circuit, being generous.

For better or worse, tracking vinyl shops has become quite important for keeping up to date, a lot of stuff never makes digital or only delayed and on Bandcamp etc. Obviously, vinyl isn't your thing but I at least heavily recommend tracking the Hardwax and Boomkat techno download sections, they always have the current stuff and they have very little outright crap on there.
