Well, if it was trance u wanted to hear, then u didn't miss much. I had a good time at Jules, mostly cuz of the peeps I saw or was hanging around with (Snipes, The Progressive, Itikia, DJ Fuzion, Seventh Sun, & some others), and not so much the music. I know Snipes & Pete ('Progress.') thought the music was great, but it was more reminiscent of his Nov. 2001 visit, than anything close to his last visit. This time, his tune choices were ALL over the place- started off with some housey stuff, then electro, went to some harder stuff, eventually dropped some trance, then threw on Layo & Bushwacka's "Love Story", which is where he lost me, but he only had 2 songs left after that. The highlight of the night came early for me, when he dropped some remix of the theme from the movie "Flash Gordon" by Queen.
On another note- I HATE the crowd at Tonic, especially tonite. There were so many cheeseballs, wierdos, & morons there. I seriously thought I was gonna have to kick someone's ass..... There was this dumb girl who was dancing around in dress slacks & a bra. She was flinging her hair and arms all over the place, and screaming & cackling (like "ariba- ariba" sound) over & over, and using the metal gates in front of the DJ booth as a dancing pole like at a strip club. She had an equally annoying boyfriend, who didn't seem to mind his gf slutting around. I think they finally got thrown out after she hopped the gate to dance in front of Jules. YAY! Good riddance! There was also this other black guy, who was singing (lord knows what) over the music, for a reeeeally long time- I couldn't tell what song it was, or if he was making it up along the way- but he didn't seem to notice me making fun of his little Star Search performance.
The club looked really good tho. |

THAT SONG OWNS!!!!!!!! MarcoV dropped the same song on his Live from Godskitchen set from this past weekend!!! Now thats a FOCKEN TUNAGE!!!
Yeah, that same chick was cleaning the floor with her friend early on. It was quite the spectacle...
IMO, JJ was not up there to drop a serious set. He was serious about his set at all; he was havin a blast. It was pretty cool when he grabbed someones cam and starting taking pics of the crowd when he was playing that "Take a pciture.." tune. He had everyone going at that point.

HUH?! Is that the Dj Elite booty of Green Velvet flash?
Anyways one thing I like about Judge Jules is how he interacts with the crowd by doing things like you just said. I dont particularly like the music he plays but at least hes fun to watch behind the decks. |

Yeah, I think I saw the breakdancing Gino- with the white cap? The TA's I introduced you to were Snipes & The Progressive. I swear I haven't been that annoyed with a crowd from the Guv lately, as I did last nite. There was a list of people I wanted to pop in the face (including my room mate- Pete, u know why...), and if u know me, you'd know I'm not a violent person.
Pete- would u believe Rick still won't apologize for his behavior last nite? We are having our '1st fight', I guess.
Yeah, that was definitely not a 'serious' set. Disappointed to only hear 1 BXR'ish trash- "Gatex" by Umek. Only recognized about 4-5 songs the entire 2 hrs. None-the-less, it was fun. |
