No. We'll just instill fear in the freedom of speech by taking everything away from him.
that. This scene is filled with hypocrites.
Open minded my ass. |
Sure he's had gigs get cancelled but I think a lot of venues and festivals would lose their ass on 9,000 Euro booking fee. The scene is the one that doesn't seem to supporting him. You know that scene that came from gays, that he doesn't like and think are a different breed and need to be fixed. |

You're not gonna win me over on this one, man.
Dropping him from upcoming gigs is understandable if you want to give the dude some time to reflect on his actions and apologize appropriately.
Dropping him from the label? Shelving his album? That's bull.
Just seems like more of an emotional reaction than a mature response, which is never good.
Like I said, this would have been a great opportunity to spotlight the issue even more. Why not someone reputable and reasonable from the industry contact him directly, sit down with him, and try to sort things out before rushing to outcast him. Perhaps I'm too much of an idealist for this world, but I just think there are better ways to handle these kinds of situations if we really want to impact and hopefully change how people think. All this has done is create even more ignorance and hate between 'two sides.' |

Why have a common sense dialogue? |

I'm usually on the same page as you but him being a dj/producer in the electronic industry and knowing it's roots, that non sense should've never come out of his mouth, even if that's how he feels. He alienated an entire community that pays his bills. Also if he really would've thought out a heart felt apology that would of been nice. What he muttered on his facebook was complete . If that's not how you really feel explain to the people what you meant by "that breed should be fixed". What breed is he talking about? Humans?
Anyways I don't really care what happens either way because I was never a fan of his. Truly I was just waiting for Wunderground and that wait is over :D

Precisely. The media is a machine.
My bro-in-law is a cop - a K9 one at that. I had a heated discussion with someone the other day because they generalized saying all cops are bad. That all of them use preemptive force. You lose my attention as soon as you start babbling like that.
Do I think some cops are evil? yea. I've had firsthand experiences with some of them. But I don't let that skew my view. Can't.
My sis brought up a good point. It's not that she doesn't think some of these stories (like Baltimore) shouldn't be spotlighted, but the media is finding every story it can to add to the mess because it increases ratings and serves its bottom line. As a result, the good cops are put into even more harm's way because you have a citizenry who's essentially being brainwashed into thinking all cops are evil. All this is doing is increasing levels of aggression and distrust.
It's amazing how different new organizations like NPR report the news (and what they report) in comparison to the TV stuff. I don't hear about the $430 million spent in the last 15 years to improve the communication frequencies in NYC that failed during 9/11. They tested it this past week and it's still a major failure. Or about the Red Cross receiving millions in donations after the Haiti earthquake, promising to build xxxxxxx number of homes and only building six.
But yea, I digress. |

It never came out of his mouth!!! And it wasn't even English!!!
One, it's a social media post. Two, who knows what was lost in trancelation (for you, Lil B).
Straight people pay his bills, too. And they still like his music (I, too, wasn't much of a fan either).
Gay people have the right to boycott him; the entire industry doesn't. |

| Though the worm hole (one of my fav shows) had a great episode about racism and biggots with studys , results and theory's which basically explained the whole thing. There is a a very small percentage of intellectuals who can converse and theorise these things, I myself consider my self one. the rest of the 99 percent listens to the media, jumps to conclusions and is basically clueless. Caitlin is more important than the cyber security issues, the money gone from Haiti, and the lack of actual security the tsa has been proving even after throwing the 4th amendment out the window. |

Ahh that's right it came from his brain out through his finger tips onto facebook for the whole world to see. We had one of our Lithuanian friends translate it to us what he wrote.
I mean if you really think he can go and bash the people that this industry was built upon and not have any backlash that's just silly. Sure they may be looking out for their own interest but this is a scene that was built for outcasts and people that didn't fit in and he goes off and calls them a different breed. Again I'm fine if that's the way he thinks but in this community there is no need to post it on the internet. He did and is getting ed proper for it.

Yea, the Caitlin nonsense is another absurd spectacle.
It's almost like getting upset is just as bad as paying attention, at this point.
I stopped paying attention to reality and just bury myself in books now because of it.
Here's a great quote from the article I posted in the random talking thread I think relates.
| quote: | | One can fight evil but against stupidity one is helpless… I have accepted the fact, hard as it may be, that human beings are inclined to behave in ways that would make animals blush. The ironic, the tragic thing is that we often behave in ignoble fashion from what we consider the highest motives. The animal makes no excuse for killing his prey; the human animal, on the other hand, can invoke God’s blessing when massacring his fellow men. He forgets that God is not on his side but at his side. |
I mentioned this book to Chris yesterday, but Susan Cain's "Quiet" is an awesome read that highlights how we came to be this way. I highly recommend checking it out, whether you're an introvert or extrovert. It's well researched and has some fascinating insight. It's made me feel like I'm not as crazy as American society has made me out to be, lol. |

Don't you see the hypocrisy here, though?
People who consider themselves "outcasts" are out-casting someone.
If you're so ing PLUR, why not take another course of action to remedy the situation instead doing what everyone would expect.
You've essentially stooped to his level, in a sense.
Let's just demonize people and take away their livelihoods - that'll show them! |

I'm pretty sure gays, transgenders, lesbians don't consider themselves outcast but in a societal sense they are outcasts. Just look at all the hate they receive.
Again I got nothing in this just wanted to get some dialogue going in here. |

If I went into a church and said God, I'd expect everyone in it to extend their hand and tell me Jesus loves me based on what I know about their faith.
That's in a perfect world without hypocrites, though.
I'm sure if I really did that some people would break a commandment or two while letting me know what they really thought.
That's bull, though, because if you follow your religion like you're supposed to you wouldn't do that to another man no matter how hateful he is.
So if this scene is predicated on PLUR, then why kick a man to the curb and shun him?
Why not reason with him and 'show him the light'?
And yea, homie. I'm just playing devil's advocate here. Like I said, I don't agree with what he said of course but I do disagree with the backlash. Especially from this so-called community. The least it could have done was extend its hand to him and try to find some common ground to work from to spin this into a positive. |
