I can not believe I didn't notice there wasn't a thread about this yet....
Tonite, at the Guv, Christopher Lawrence & DJ Dan. Doors open at 10pm, $15 at the door.

Ok- I'm not gonna bother posting a new thread on the matter, since I'm sure I was the only TA there....
Mr. Lawrence went on just after 1am, and played for 90 mins. The first 45 mins just weren't taking me there.... finally, he started to take us up, up, up!!! So, the last 45 min's were great, but then he was done. :( I recognized 3-4 tracks off his WEMF set, & I suspect that they will be on his new cd, which will be released Nov.12.
DJ Dan went on after him, cranked the volume louder than I've EVER heard the main room go, and started pumping out the tech-house. Not only was he trying to make us lose our hearing, but our voices as well, cuz u REALLY HAD TO YELL IN THERE!!!

Cool thing tonite was that they put the DJ booth on that little stage, and it was open to the public for a while after DJ Dan started spinning, which made it nice & convenient for me to go chat it up w/ Christopher once again.
**I've survived going out 4 out of the past 7 nights, with 2 parties left to go.....and then I can rest..... I think? |

i checked out some of the vids on Chris' site and all i can say is WOW .. especially the NYE party on in LA.. dayumz why can't we have new years parties like that !
i've been a fan of CL for a while but alas i have no yet caught him live..
Tatgirl, i heard that this party was supposed to be some PS2 promo? didja see or receive any gaming stuff inside just outta curiousity..
anyhow.. can't wait to see the Dentist tonite! you goin ? |

Yeah, he & DJ Dan are doing a tour sponsored by PS2, and they play together 3-4 times/ week, but I did not see any PS2 promo material anywhere. Wierd, huh?
I won't be attending Viva tonite- will be hitting the Nightmare and/or Mistress Barbara instead. If I make it to both, I will have turned this week into something completely above average..... |

LKD- didn't end up using your spot- when we got to the door, a bouncer just got a hold of 2 tix & offered them to us at $10/ea., so we took 'em, to save the hassle.
Also- they decided that digital cameras were not allowed tonite, cuz there was a 'guest DJ'. Ummmm..... whatev!!! I put it in coatcheck (the bouncer even walked me to the coat check to make sure I was putting it in), but I took it out shortly afterwards. The only pic I took was of me & CL anyways. Spoke w/a friend who works there, and apparently the Guv has a no camera policy all the time- just doesn't know why it's not enforced all the time. 2 of the reasons he gave was 1) the DJ's don't like having their picture taken, & 2) Charles (the owner) doesn't like camera flashes cuz they bug him. <<< Does anyone see something wrong w/this picture??? He owns a club, that uses STROBE LIGHTS!!!! WTF?! |

arc in NYC has a policy like that - but it is strictly enforced.
i a trying to decided if i should go see CL this saturday. i really want to but i promised myself to keep to one club per night this weekend.... and i can't afford it. would you recommend it? i've seen him before and i love him but it wouldn't be easy for me to get to centro fly tommorrow night. :( |
