I miss the days that good tracks were hits for months.
Are there any these days? |

So true. A good track came out and it was hammered for several months. Then again, they were tracks that stood up over time, not the disposable, ADD, production_over_content bollocks we're fed now.
I miss the days of getting a promo and then 3-6 months later the official release coming out. |

I miss being new to the sound and scene.
Having that eager curiosity you have when you find something new you love.
Up until yesterday (Balance 005), I hadn't been inspired by an entire project - new or old - for quite some time.
I've been listening to music since I was 9 - obsessively.
What am I to do when I've reached the pinnacle of my listening experience? Does such a thing exist?
This Balance 005 CD sure seems like it. Like I won't stumble into another pot of gold like this in the dance genre again.
It's.. so perfect. |

| I don't mean to be a cun/t, but how the have you just discovered 005? It's like the Last Supper of prog! |

Although I know some of his work, I never dug around for any of James Holden's stuff until two days ago.
Of course I've listened to a bunch of Balance CDS - just not that particular one.
But you know, I'm glad. As I wrote elsewhere, I really needed to come across a gem like this right now.
I played it for the first time without even knowing its significance. That made the discovery even better.
Copy is in the mail :toocool: |

Ain't the same anymore. |
definitely. it was a strong but very underground scene here, so it was a very unique scene/environment in each venue. i used to wish that electronic music would get more recognition so i'd actually hear it on tv and the radio. it blows my mind how "EDM" how gotten so popular the past few years or so, something i wished would've happened back around y2k. but times have changed, music has changed, these days you have festivals where alot of dj's just play a pre-recorded set. back in the day if people found out a dj was playing a pre-recorded set and not spinning live, god help them. that sort of thing would've ruined a dj's rep. now it seems like the norm. all-in-all i'm glad "EDM" has gotten big, i just hope that the new kids introduced to it eventually expand their taste beyond the electro house or dubstep that caught their interest to begin with so they discover a wide range of genres and versatility within electronic music.
in retrospect i'm glad the rave scene here was underground in my heyday because it played a role in letting complete strangers meet and become friends with damn near anyone else. it was like a really big extended family, comradery and unity, everyone leaves their egos at the door.
i'm glad things are the way they are now, that there's a new generation doing their thing like we did back in the day, just a bit different but at it's best - the core principles are still there. at its worst, a bunch of kids listening to the music only cuz it's popular rather than legitimately being swept up with a love for the music. ableton did kill the dj though :\ |

Oh stop pretending. We all would rather have it still be underground, you don't need to pretend to be this kind and gracious person that just LOVES to share everything and anything with the stupid masses. It's the SHEEP of this world that are destroying everything that meant something. The brainless lemmings that goes around and screws it all up.......
Trance was soo much better when only a selected few knew what it was all about and the certain understanding that comes with it. So you can shove Castles in the Sky up your anus next time when it comes on the radio! Or whatever that song is. |

Please weinerschnitzel..... I like you, don't do this to me. I didn't mean to say what I said in the other thread, not the way it was intended. I'm just glad you took it in stride and ready to move on, that is all.
I've always had a crush on you....... :( |
