The Secret Garden returns once again, to offer a unique experience during Miami Art Walk in Wynwood. Last month we introduced a new venue experience at Toejam Backlot. A culmination of arts, music, crafts and other elements fused together to offer something to those looking for something new and special. What perspired was an experience that has left us buzzing even after the event.
If you missed the June edition, don't be alarmed. This July we continue our goal, to create unique experiences in new and exciting environments. Bringing people from all over the community together for the common goal of lifting the culture of our beloved home, Miami.
Expect an elevated experience in an equally impressive venue. We're working diligently to offer you a unique experience every month right in the middle of Wynwood during Art Walk.

First time going man. Gonna be staying at princess casino in Belize city for a cpl nights than staying with my wife's fam for the rest of the time in Sandhill. Not doing any of the keys tourist stuff gonna be in Belize city and just the regular hood. Trying to get s true feel of the culture and look at real estate. We have retirement plans hopefully in the next 15-20 that involve moving there.
Only real plan we have is to check out one of the ruins. Any recommendations which one to check out? Any in general recommendations besides its hot as and to bring tons of off with deet?
I'm disappointed to miss Dj t. He killed it on the boat last summer |

Honestly, I get out of Belize city as fast as possible. Caye Caulker isn't touristy (it might be now. That's the Caye I lived on. No cars and about 80 people) San Ignacio is a beautiful town out west, I highly recommend going to check it out. There aren't really any tourists towns in Belize, at all with the exception of Ambergis Caye, we did a day out there just to check it out. Not my cup of tea.
Ruins, if you have the time and adventure spirit go to Caracol! It's only 35 miles from San Ignacio but will take you about 3 hours if the roads aren't washed out. You'll pick up an armed convoy from the Military to get you the rest of the way. They had major issues with Guatemalan bandits robbing tourists since the road is like 1/2 from Guatemala but it is so worth the trip.
Another good one is Altun Ha in the north, Lamanai in the north. Out west you try and go to Xunantunich. If you have more time make your way to Tikal/Flores in Guatemala arguably the most significant site in all of Mayan History. It will take you hours and hours to walk through this place. One the better excavated sites as well.
Another great thing is caves branch river for some cave tubing, stop at Big Rock as well, Rio Frio Cave (absolutely stunning), Rio Pools (you can do all these in one day since they are all close to each other. It's in the middle of the country.)
I'm attaching some of pics from down there as well so you can see the different areas. My next time down there I'm going to the south to Palenque.

Best ruins by far....Xunantunich. We loved it. It's also the largest ruins. Very very surreal experience. |

Caracol is actually the largest and tallest ruins in Belize. The site is about 20% excavated
Cahal Pech is a great site. I haven't been there but everyone talked about it. Can do those with Xunantunich. There's a cool boat tour that does both sites.
The south is where I need to get to Luubataan and Blue Creek Cave. |

Unlike Mexico you are still allowed to climb and walk all around the ruins in Belize which is awesome. There are never many people down there either.
Only reason I know so much is I did excavation down there at Caracol for a college class. |

I think we were way more advanced In a diff way back then than we are now. Was learning a lot about the whole Egyptian power plant theory and it makes more sense than any other stupid theory these silly Egyptologist put forth. The Sphinx is all but proven to be way older than we have been told thanks to erosion data. If you haven't def look into the power plant theory, it explains all the shafts and the trace minerals that have been found in the great pyramid. We hope to one day make it to Peru and check out the ruins there as well, the intricate t cuts and other things done to those huge stones are in no way possible from what we learned in school about these silly ancient cultures. Georgio is my homeboy!!!!
We just booked a cpl nights at Ian andsrsons cave branch adventure. My wife has family in Belmopan so it's right around the corner from them. I'm lucky to have her huge well connected fam to take care of us and get way more than the tourist experience.
Out of curiosity. Mr Juan where have you gained knowledge and traveled to? Seems like it's hard for you yo even make it to downtown Miami let alone any where else. |
