Review - Donald Glaude and DJ Dan at Ruby Skye July 4. 2015

These two guys, DJ Dan and Donald Glaude, have entirely sold out and have no credibility. When we arrived, DJ Dan was playing Rock the Casbah, I was like, Seriously? Fortunately he left by 12:30 or so. Then Glaude started his set and it was absolutely horrible. Hip hop mixed in with psycho trance and pure stupidity. Starting and stopping the music, all the antics coming out front of the decks, throwing his hair/jumping around. I was like WTF, let me get up their with the current playlists on my iPhone and I can do better than this. It sucked so bad we could only stand about 30 minutes. We saw some other friends who were also disgusted and left for another club and salvaged the evening.
I'm into tech house/techno/deep house so I knew I wasn't going to get off with these guys, But I never imagined how bad they could SUCK. The only reason we went was because we get free tickets, however I wouldn't go see Glaude again if someone payed me $1000. Maybe $7500 I would think about it. |

Yea these two sucked back in the late 90's during the height of the underground rave scene when everyone was too geeked up to realize how bad the music really was.
It AMAZES me that either of these two deejays get booked anymore. Total cheese bull with egos to boot.

Donald Glaude was never a great DJ, just good at screaming and jumping mixed in with some decent tunes here and there.
DJ DAN on the other hand is a quality DJ, both technically and musically. I don't know what hes playing currently, but his throwback EDC closing set this year was fantastic: 2 hours of that 90's old school funky techno tribe sound. |
