Hello there community,
Do you know how (or if required) to actually
*burn in* new pairs of headphones?
Yes, there is a new set here and, while
not being expensive, do you still a suggest
some kind of primer for them?.
AS it goes, and practically speaking, testing
them out------- they do seem very "bright".
The question is straight forward, so maybe
you i can google (it)
It is my brithday and a gift, but i still want
to make the best of the cans.
Many thanks

| I ran pink noise through my akg 701s everyday for a week, it made a massive improvement. Even then though I still think it took a few months of use to really get them sounding good. |

Thanks.
Ofcourse, there is a lot of talk about "burnin in"
headphones.
Really, in my experience it does make a long term
difference and improvement that lasts.
It's not clear if any manufactureres actually do
this, since quality brands really know about that
and it's really something that they address.
In summary, the headphones?.... they do sound allright....
per the above comment.
it's a coincidence that indeed. my dwellings require
often damping of neighbours with white Noise....so
although the cans are in use-here right away, it's
a good coincidence.
Thanks,

| Sell them. Buy a second-hand pair and replace the earpads. Work complete. |

hard to say - some speakers like Focal for instance, they actually specify in the manual to run-in the speakers
For headphones i guess the same but out of the box there shouldnt that much difference i wouldnt have thought?
but if using the same phones for years, i would need to get a brand new set of DT880s and compare them to my years old DT880s and see how much the sound has changed? |

They sound fab with great detail, very wide soundstage as well, they lack just a tad in the bottom end.. I mean its there but they need just a tad bit more
The k712s correct this afaik so if I had the cash they'd be my choice. |

jesus.
the whole burning in thing ----- lets sell something and then have hear say about how to get it sounding optimum that takes just enough time. They are playing on your confirmation bias and addressing your initial perhaps less than enthusiastic first impression
By that time you've already committed.
This isn't like prepping a butt hole. They might indeed reach their optimum functioning after some time. You aint' gonna notice. |

use headphones for stereo imaging. Use monitors for everything else.
But in your case, i bet there is a giant null and you can't tell because you have no treatment and your listening environment is . |
