For reasons unrelated to music, I've had a desire to travel east, way east to Asia. Undecided on the exact locale, but China and Vietnam are at the top of my list so far. Does anyone happen to know of any good outdoor festival-ish events for electronic music out there? Additionally, is there a legitimate scene. I know DJs do go out there from time to time but at best I can tell, it's very sporadic.

This might be my next big adventure in 2016, so trying to gather as much data as possible. We all know you don't really experience a place or culture until you party with the locals!

South Korea definitely has an EDM scene. My first 'rave' was in Seoul for NYE 2005 with Benny Benassi. I was still a heavy hip-hop head at the time, but someone from my unit played "Love is Gonna Save Us" and I said let's ing do it. Lol. I mean, South Korea has hosted Ultra multiple times before, too. That has to mean something. If not for anything else, I definitely know that the South Koreans get down when it comes to partying. Fun people. I've never been to China or Vietnam, so I can't make a comparison. But between Seoul, Osan and Busan, South Korea can be one hell of a great time. Good bang for your buck, too. Pun not intended :p

If it were me, I'd forget about the 'scene' and visit Southeast Asia. It's super cheap to travel through (budget backpackers love it) and there's so much interesting stuff to see and do.

Namaste :)

For real culture go to Cambodia. More history there than any where else imho. I have a few fiends from there. I want to go to Cambodia really bad, hoping in the next 5 or so years. Music/party go to tokoyo. I think it's easier their as everything is more centralized. Seoul would be option too but personally the Japanese culture intrestes me more
