So, here I am on my Sunday evening commute back to Portland from Eugene on the Bolt Bus.

Anyway, tonight the bus was supposed to leave at 5pm. I'm on and in my usual spot towards the back of the bus. And other people are on and all have established window seats as well. So, of course this ing dude gets here 1 minute before the door is supposed to close and he sits right next to me! Despite 4 open seats in the radius around where I'm at.

This has happened now like 4 weekends in a row! All these open seats and they choose me to sit by. Sucks man.

And, this er immediately throws his arm on the middle rest, and actually way over in my space. I decided to root around for my computer in my bag making arm contact with him, and I thought for a moment we were about to have words.

Wtf??

That's some ing bull right there. You don't sit next to someone if there are open seats. Absolutely not on.

Well, that's the thing... there weren't any "rows" open. The people that were on the bus had all dispersed so that everyone was sitting next to a window.
Sushipunk
Ah, well that changes things. I mean, the guy has to sit somewhere, right? Just unlucky that it happens to be next to you all the time :p

I suppose you could always be that semi- guy that puts his bag/laptop/whatever on the empty seat next to you, so late-comers will sit somewhere else. If there are plenty of other empty seats to choose from then it's not too much of a prick move. I've done it plenty of times before :o

Op wouldn't last a minute on a nyc subway. Oh no someone is sitting next to me.

lol... not even. I live in Boston. It gets pretty crowded on the T. With the blizzard bull this past winter, had to spoon everyone to get on.

I was just saying that I've had the experience the last few weeks on the bus, where there have been other people around me with available seats, and yet when that lone soul comes on the bus and makes their way back-- they choose me to sit by.

I have no issues with crowded transportation.

edit-- crowded "public" transportation. And actually, I didn't really care that the dude picked me to sit by, it's him throwing his arm over the seat divider into my spot. And then when I defend my position I thought we were going to have words

If it's the same guy it could be that psychological thing where ppl sit in the same seats in a classroom even though they have free will to sit any where they like.
