Actually, that was very insightful, albeit a tad brief. Interesting to see what the Gabber scene was like during the mid-90's in Rotterdam. The way they danced was classic. Free form dancing. At least people were free to express themselves in whatever way they wanted and didn't need to feel like they were being judged. It definitely seemed like a purer time in electronic music. I loved the equipment that the producers used back then. The old school systems.

They still dance like this over here and gabbers still exist.
I made this video recently as I thought it was fun for a couple of minutes. I liked the simple lights and strobes and had a good timing :) Sounded to me like Hardcore in the '90 and the dancing still looked the same, although it's difficult to see on the video.

Pretty good, funny as hell when the guy tripping talks: "My view? Gabber is about raving...pills, lines, tripping...Just having good times with each other, you know. Everybody is at the same level because of drugs. Stuff happens. To be a gabber you don't have to shave your head. It can also be someone with hair." :stongue:

The opening track is not gabber, though, it's hardcore, I think on this release: http://www.discogs.com/Latex-W-Van-...1/release/67122

There was a nice US release, where Marc Trauner used the "Rotterdam" sample, followed by "is full of ," as a kind of New York (or Germany) answer to the Hardcore/Gabber scene in Rotterdam. The label is interestingly enough called "WAR," and only has that one release: http://www.discogs.com/La-Cosa-Nostra-The-Black-Hand/release/219841

People still freestyle, it just depends on the party and the music being played. When I went to an outdoor psy festival some years ago in Upstate New York, people were also freestyling and going nuts, not really caring about how they looked. You're not going to really freestyle to house music, after all.
