My father's best friend used to be a doorman for one of those exclusive Italian mob pubs like in the movie, Rob the Mob. Another good friend of his used to run various tasks for the Italian mob. The former would tell tales of how crazy it used to be in the early 90's, where he'd go out packed with two guns, occasionally getting into gun fights and whatnot. |

Hello,
What do you think is the best HBO series ever made?
Top 5 for me :
1)Band of Brothers
2) True Detective
3) Game of thrones
4) The Wire
5) The Pacific |
How is Sopranos not in your top five, Juan? Best show ever. I've probably watched it 10+ times by now. Never gets old.
I've been playing around with screenwriting recently. My DVD set includes director commentary, too. I've watched it to get a feel for how writers approach scenes and piece together story lines. Super interesting.
Anyways..
1) Sopranos
2) The Wire
3) True Detective (Season 1 is the series - Season 2 was )
4) Game of Thrones
5) OZ
Honorable mention: Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (better than The Daily Show, IMO)
I've been meaning to watch Boardwalk Empire, but whenever I try something always distracts me. |

Sopranos was great on all aspects. From the writing, to the acting to the music, to the themes; Sopranos nailed it!
from the scene to Ralphie beating Tracy to the scene where Adrianna admits to being an FBI informant to the scene where Tony is at the safe house laying down with the machine gun in hand |

Some of you guys forgot to mention 'Ballers'.
By the way how is HBO getting away with this?! All of these shows are BASICALLY famous because they have RECENT MOVIE STARS as TV show regulars!
I personally feel that these shows are famous ONLY because they get the big movie star names to appear LIKE THEY WERE JUST A FACE IN THE CROWD. In that sense, I would watch any of these as long as they keep the famous movie stars gonig in! |
