i remember play being one of the first albums i ever bought , and i convinced my dad to take me to the record shop after i put him onto the porcelain song, he was blown away by it and so was a few of my uncles who had only heard of him throught film's and commercials prior to. Since then he has released stuff on a pretty consistent bases , but none of which reached the popularity of play most of them are hit or miss , i like the vibe of this one though which came out recently.

I remember browsing a store in Manhattan, searching for CDs that fit my current taste at the time, and I did listen to Play but instead purchased Paul Oakenfold's Tranceport. This was around the year 99' or 2000. Since then, the only Moby release I bought was his acid release under his Voodoo Child alias:

"moby - god moving over the face of the water" is seriously the best song i have ever heard.

Seriously, you're starting a Moby thread with his Play era and beyond? Go back to the source, mang!

i was not familiar with this alias, but wow i really like that first track. Will dig more into it. I wonder why he stopped producing tracks as Voodoo Child , perhaps not getting the fan reach to justify further productions?

My illogically deep hatred of Play makes it impossible for me to listen to anything else of his.

That release was more suited to the underground techno/acid scene of the time, whereas Play and most of his other stuff are more "commercial," suited more to the general public. Aphex Twin did the same thing - producing more underground/abrasive stuff as Caustic Window and Universal Indicator and more commercial stuff as Aphex Twin. This tune in particular was a big underground hit, but commercially this kind of music doesn't fare very well:
As was this one:
Sorry for slight thread derailment. Btw, if you're into that Voodoo Child - Horses track, I highly recommend you check out The Rising Sons - Afghan Acid - that and Psychonautic Experiments - Flood were pretty much the two tracks that made me an acid head.

Also there was a good remix to "god moving over the face of the water" on a global underground cd by UNKLE

I recently bought his self titled debut album on CD. Some acid house and techno with what would come to be his signature melodies. First heard Next is the E on a PvD set from 1993 a few years back and finally got around to buying that album. I'm going through a phase where I try to listen to an artists entire first album and see how it might have influenced their later sound. All in all, a fun album. Maybe it's just me, but I really seem to enjoy a lot of works and sounds from multiple genres during the 1992-1994 era. Or I am just learning to appreciate good (old) music.
Either way, Moby is definitely a talented producer. My friend saw him at Mysteryland last year. Said he was horrible. Apparently, he jumped on the whole EDM electro house bandwagon. Too bad, because I heard his performances live (with a band) used to be quite good.
