just wanted to say hi and introduce myself, my name is mike, I'm from panama city and have been in key west for 11 years. i still enjoy lots of different typesof dance music, but i feel way behind on anything recent
(as in 10 years recent) lol.
so living in kw is fun, not a club town obviously tho. i am totally not familiar with the scene in miami and ft lauderdale but it would be nice to go hear some good music. i like house and progressive house, techno, but like i said i am completely out of the loop regarding new music. hopefully you guys can steer me in the right direction with some music and event suggestions. i look forward to getting to know you all. thanks for letting me hang around! :)
and i apologize for bad grammar, my phone is screwy at best and it doesn't like me to fix mistakes

Given that you enjoy progressive house and are looking for a good event to go to, I'd recommend the Eric Prydz show at Club Space in Miami on November 7. http://www.wantickets.com/Events/19...ntSource=search

Some more events that you might enjoy include Recondite at Grand Central on September 18 and Adriatique at Trade on September 25. Joris Voorn is also playing at Story in October -- that's going to be a great one.

For some listening suggestions, the Anjunadeep podcast is great, as well as Digweed's Transitions podcasts. Also just start looking up sets by some of the DJs I mentioned as well as by Bob Moses, Hernan Cattaneo (his Balance CD from last year is just amazing), and the Innervision cats (Dixon, Ame, Henrik Schwarz, etc). Most of this music isn't progressive house but it has a lot of the elements found in older progressive house (like the stuff from 2000-2006). When a guy like Cattaneo mixes the new stuff (which is labeled "techno"), it sounds eerily similar to an old school progressive house mix.

Welcome to the board!

Welcome aboard buddy. The What Are You Listening to thread is full of great music and a great way to get adjusted to the sounds of today.

We try and keep the events updated as much as possible but that's a full time job here in Miami with so much going on.

I can't help but think this is Juan, even though I know it probably isn't :o

If you're the real Mike T in the place to be, then welcome to the board! :)

Chris and Donnie basically summed it up. I would scroll through these threads for starters as far as catching up on some new tunes.
