So much for Insomniac moving it out of Vegas.....

Lets all take Molly and PLUR in the desert

The whole strip is almost sold out that weekend. Why would they want to move it out?

SLS sends me promotions w/ comped room for 2 nights any weekend of the year. The only blackout dates are that weekend. (not that I care to stay at SLS's jail cell style rooms.

There are a lot of conventions that weekend, let alone there's usually big fights (ufc and boxing) the third weekend in June in Las Vegas.

Gonna be a cluster that's for sure. Gonna sell out of course as well, but let's see how soon it does.
Nerologic
Also, on a side note. Didn't this last years EDC offer single day tickets? Last year, one of the fastest years it did sell out they didn't. Why would they if they sold enough 3 days?

Maybe the decline of EDM has been going on longer than we think.

There were no single day tickets this past year, only 3 day.

Aside from ths ty rooms, I wouldn't book at the SLS period - if what I heard is right, they won't even be around for EDC2016.

Neros right - There are several massive conferences on that weekend and about 4 years ago it was the Ricky Hatton fight (a.k.a. The only time in history that the MGM ran out of alcohol. My countrymen do me proud).

Oops, guess I was wrong. And I meant 2015 as this past year.

Yep this year is what I was referring to, no big deal Nero. I have friends here in Vegas that could only go one night due to work obligations and one day tickets would have been great, unfortunately they didn't sell any.

I agree on the SLS rooms, bunch of concrete jail cells. SLS will prolly be done in January, the private equity firm that bankrolls them is only on the hook until the end of the year. The casino is losing tens of millions per quarter. The club Life already shut down July 4th.

Yep, it's a matter of months for the SLS vegas. Was so funny though - I knew so many idiots that were all banging on about how special they were due to being able to go to the opening, and they wouldn't hear that it was tacky and doomed.

The SLS in LA is now Starwood so SBE has been losing a ton of money on hotels and failed restuarants. Sammy will still be alright but the SLS brand is down the toilet.

So dumb of the SLS to do ty rooms. The ones with the best rooms (encore, palazzo) are doing well years later.

It's part of a bigger trend though. I read a leaked report that Vegas is no longer making it's money on Gambling, it's on the attractions, events, food and bev and rooms. It's a complete 180 even up to 3/4 years ago where the rooms and sideshows were just a means to host the gamblers.

You may even see the days of comped rooms disappear....

Comped rooms will never disappear for players who are willing to play $25 a hand or more for 4 hours a day or more. They figure they will make it up on your gambling.

Almost every month I get a email and postcard from Cosmopolitan. 2 nights free anytime in the next month. My friends that don't play as much get 2 nights free Sunday to Thursday.

FYI I believe EDC tickets are going on sale early (9/21) in order to beat the new Live Entertainment Tax starting on Oct 1. The tax is an additional 9% added to ticket sales, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is added to EDC tickets starting Oct 1.

As per gambling revenues here in Vegas... I believe year over year Vegas is doing really well, with baccarat being the biggest money maker. I read the numbers every quarter but I don't pay too close attention since I'm not in the industry. Comped rooms may decrease for your smaller players but the big players will always be comped. I met a guy that came in with 3m cash in duffel bags last month to gamble all weekend, he was comped everything lol. I do know Vegas is leaving a lot of money on the table in regard to fantasy sports betting, the big casinos are unwilling to test the legality of it even tho it's been ruled legal in several states. Fanduel and Draftkings are making a killing.
