hey, i've heard about some big vulnerability in Windows XP where one could accidentally click on an encoded URL which will wipe out your system or important system files, as well as vulnerability in emails. The solution is supposed to be Service Pack 1, or as a TechTV program said, to change the file name of a system file, specifically, uplddrvinfo in the systems directory. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? or is this a hoax....

furthermore, as Service Pack 1 is only available for registered XP users, pirated copies are unable to update this security pack. supposedly, if one has XP Pro/Corporate, microsoft can track your i.p. if you try to update and issue a fine for piracy. any help? thanks a lot folks..

True. Do a search in google to find out more information.
Either upgrade to SP1 or do the workaround (that is, delete or rename that file)
