i'm sure someone here has this?
what's it like?
especially the sequencer? and how effectively could you program a full 'song' into it? |

I played with it when it first came out about 9 months ago at GS.
The sounds in it are good but the filters suck.
It's kinda like my Roland d2 groove but with keys.
Keyboard sucks but if you want small keys you will be happy.
The four-part sequencer is OK. |

The drums sounds are good you get tr-808 tr-909 sounds.
You also get supersaws, fat bass, Ronald pads and B&B sounds.
You get alot bang for your bucks. |

What I don't like about it is that you can only program up to 4 patterns with the sequencer, it seems. That makes the drums part rather useless, unless you plan to have only 4 patterns in your track. |

yeah, been looking into it, that's a bummer.
there's always something ing you over. if you could mute or add individual drum parts, it would be a superb all in one box.
maybe in a firmware. not holding my breath obviously.
if it wasn't for that, i'd have one already. |

The JDXi is a cheap product designed to be added to a bigger setup.
My observation is that there's a growing market for the Youtube jammer and people seem to want something that's cheap enough to be bought with a months disposable income that makes them look cool in a video.
If you want something proper, there's always the Elektron stuff. |

Pretty much. The synth part is not bad, and I've only got my feet wet with the machine, without even digging into the manual yet. The good thing about the sequencer is that you can add the synth part and use it as master to your drum machine. I synced it up with my TR-8 and x0xb0x and I got the synth part to sound pretty cool. You have to mess around with it (like all synths) to get it to sound like you want it to, but it's definitely capable of some decent sounds. |

took delivery of this a few days ago.
i severely doubt you could get any more value for your money. a mere 350 and you have a fantastic collection of drum kits, amazing sounding pads, leads and basses and an analogue voice - and just as important, the tools to put everything together in a fun and easy way.
the best thing about it is the way the package comes together. there is some menu diving, but i have already made a basis for a song in little under an hour... despite not knowing anything about playing the keyboard. it sounds great i think, i will try upload it if i figure out how.
the sequencer is extremely simple but powerful. you have the combination of the TB-303 style step recording, muting/unmuting steps and real time recording. the effects and arpeggiator are great and everything is really fun to around with.
easily my best gas. anyone thinking about this should go ahead and get it. |
