| Why do so many producers go by so many different names? It confused the crap outta me!!!:whip: :whip: |

A lot of producers switch the name under which they produce early in their career because they haven't found one that they're totally happy with yet. After that, it's usually to differentiate between the styles of music they're producing, although sometimes it's difficult to understand their categorizations. Of course, in some cases, it might simply be schizophrenia.

Well i think it keeps them from getting a crap reputation, for example not sure about a tune, release it under a different name, so then your reputation doesnt get ruined
Also some people just like name changes, getting bored with their producer name etc, or it might be they are producing with someone else, so a different name, the list is endless :) |

Yeah, that's pretty much what Fly and Arbiter said. Here's an easier example:
Let's suppose that, for some reason, Ferry Corsten produces some drum'n'bass (let's call it "The attack"). If you ever see something like:
Ferry Corsten - The attack
What will you expect to hear? Trance. However, when you hear the tune you will be totally puzzled. Therefore, producers create aliases, so in this case, if you ever see something like
Massive Kawsten - The attack
You wouldn't confuse his trance tunes with his drum'n'bass tunes ;)

This has got to be the best explanation so far :D |

| Yep, all those are correct. One more thing to add to those though. Artists also use different aliases for the different labels they are on. |

| yeah i think its mostly to reflect the differant styles they produce but also legal issues with the labels... differant labels want a differant name sometimes... |
