Waves C4 vs C6 (What's your Multiband Compressor?)

Waves C4 vs C6.. which do you use? I've been using C4 on my master bus for years and always get great results. I started using the C6 a month back more seriously and I noticed tracks are sounding even better with the C6:crazy: Not sure why, I use the same setting on both, A/B, the C6 usually sounds cleaner with less coloring of sound. The C4 I find is slightly tape/crunchier, would recommend for acoustic styles like rock/metal/jazz..
Also I tried FabFilters Pro-MB, tho it's very transparent, it doesn't make the sound thick/heavy enough like Waves.
What's your go to Multiband Compressor? |

| I have C4, it came with my Gold bundle, but I don't use it that often. Fabfilter Pro-MB is my go-to when I need multiband or (more often) frequency-specific compression on tracks or buses. I don't use a compressor on my master bus, but I finalize my tracks in Wavelab and I usually use the MB compressor in Ozone. |

| N\A, sounds like a bandaid problem to me, if you're mixing with it |

Yeah, I didn't want to post in this thread, since I thought the same thing.
For me, if you're compressing individual sounds (for example the main low bass), why would you use a multiband compressor on the master channel to compress the bass region?
But the reason I decided not to post was, my approach is "if it sounds good in the end, it's fine". There are many ways to get a good result. In the end all that matters is that it's 1. great music, with 2. great production. |
