Quality Of Mixes In Modern Trance And Uplifting

In the last year or so it's been harder and harder for me to find a decent track I'd like to purchase. Especially if we talk about uplifting. Some times I hear a promising track, but I notice how a bad mix can degrade the whole "product". And with "bad mix" I'm not referring simply to the usual over-compression tendency, but in general to the lack of vision, progression or logic in some technical choices. It seems to me like many producers release tracks just to appear "out there" without questioning the value of their own products. The vast majority of the tracks I perceive as formulaic, soulless, short sighted. It seems like ejected from a factory, a series of exact copies. I don't pretend for a revolution at all. We all know the founding elements of the genre. What I want is simply ideas.
So my question is: have you ever discarded a track cause of a bad mix and did you purchase one with great mix but not so musically appealing?
I personally did many times. An expensive mix adds a tremendous value to a product imo. |

| None of what you described has anything to do with mixing. |

Seconded, it's more likely songwriting and/or sound design that you've grown an annoyance over. |

Around 3 years ago I had been working on a track that had my best work on arrangement and composition to date. I was very excited about the track however, I had no idea what I was doing on EQ work. As well, I "thought" that my mix was good because it sounded great on my my computer speakers (lawl) I was very proud of this piece until my friend played it on his flat response speakers. The noise that came through on his sub was so ing annoying I personally turned it off within 15 seconds. All we could do was stare at the tiness of the track.
It was then that I realized I had to do something about it and cared enough to at least seek out knowledge of how to make a proper mix.
In short, I know what you are meaning and I wonder why certain songs are released and the mix is crap. |

| Exactly, too much crap being released. A big chunk of producers don't realize the value of presenting your product in the best possible way. |

I'm sure I've said this to you before... For uplifting stuff I listen to fsoe podcast, for me it's the best.. Yeah you get your average tracks on but every week there is always at least a few quality tunes that makes you search the track list to find out what it is.
If you're not liking any of it at all after listening to a couple episodes then I've got no idea what you are expecting from the genre? |

you want uplifting what ever the hell that means, get a time machine.
the only thing you get now is a never ending shepard tone. And even those trance mixes that were considered the best of had 1 track that i would consider ever playing live in the bunch. People are afraid to play old music even if it is probably better, same tempo and generally sounds as current/ |
