| Pffft, resent? That's practically a compliment. They are not worthy of resent. :o |

Absolutely read this thread title as "If Jenny ran a cunt".
I wasn't quite sure what that meant, but it was click-worthy. |

| She would love China. Any chick over 50 kg is openly and verbally fat shamed by everyone, including friends and family. |

Not really sure why people "hate" fat people. It's one of those things that's never going to affect your life.
Are people worried that a fat guy is going to accidentally sit on them and crush their ribs or something?
I'm all for any way that encourages people to lose weight and be healthy, but I don't see how bullying or insulting someone is going to be all that effective. I would imagine after getting bullied for being fat a fat person would simply feel bad about it for about a day and then carry on with their lifestyle.
I was a slightly chubby kid in grades 7 and 8 and was insulted about it constantly by two of the people I hung around the most while at school. I stayed the same weight for both of those years, and then grew like 6 inches in grades 9 and 10 and all of a sudden I wasn't chubby anymore by any standards. Nor was I lazy in any way, and played several sports and was better at them than those two friends I mentioned, yet even after I was no longer chubby they kept calling me fat for the rest of High School just because when they first met me I was a chubster.
From grade 10 until I was a year into university I exercised frequently, worked full-time at a physically demanding job and walked everywhere (I went to school downtown).
As soon as I went crazy in 2009 and they put me on a bunch of medication I gained quite a bit of weight in a very short period of time then lost a bunch then over the course of a few months lost a huge amount of balance and muscle mass and could no longer go to the gym, so then came the weight again.
So for someone who has never really struggled with their size at any point in their life I don't know why it matters whatsoever what someone else's weight is.
I understand the health care cost argument. Yes, diabetics and people with heart disease certainly do cost the system a lot of money, but there are other lifestyle choices that cost the system enormous amounts of money too.
In any case, I'd like to say that since I started that wheelchair exercise thread I've lost 25 pounds and feel a lot better, so thanks to the people who gave me nutrition and exercise advice. |

Not sure I get it either. The only argument I heard against fat people is that they're a burden to the health system. But then, it's weird that smokers and heavy drinkers (unless they're driving) aren't targeted the same way.
It's just weird. It's probably a cultural thing, with gluttony being a sin (whereas turning your lungs into lumps of coal and drinking your liver to a pulp aren't). |

It actually does affect me when I have to roll and turn these people, or wipe their ass and change their nasty rotting dressings for them when they end up in the hospital. They are the biggest (lol) risk for injury. Hurt my back or shoulder caring for some behemoth and goodbye career.
Overweight people are a huge drain on health care, and thus, society as a whole. There are "other lifestyle choices" sure, but the majority of people who end up in hospital are overweight - and their health issues are all related to that, plain and simple. It costs thousands of dollars a day for a hospital bed, and overweight people have longer hospital stays and have more frequent/repeat hospital admissions.
outta here with "it doesn't affect you." It sure as hell does. |
