I know some of you use it here and I found this email in my spam folder, although it is legit.

Dear TuneCore Customer,

We greatly value your business and respect the privacy of your information, which is why we are writing to let you know about a data security breach that may have resulted in unauthorized access to some of our customers' personal data and account information.

We recently discovered suspicious activity on TuneCore's servers in November, and that on November 17th an individual illegally collected information from our servers. We are actively working with law enforcement to investigate this unlawful act, and we have retained a leading cybersecurity firm to help prevent this from happening again.

It's possible that the attacker may have had access to some of our customer data. The data on the compromised servers that we stored from customers like you included customers' names, addresses, email addresses, TuneCore account numbers, and protected TuneCore passwords.

Although TuneCore passwords we re stored in a protected form, it is possible for a determined hacker with sufficient time, using advanced computing tools, to recover those passwords. Therefore, in an abundance of caution, we have invalidated your current TuneCore password, and are requesting that you log in to your TuneCore account as soon as possible to set a new password following the steps outlined below. You should also change your password on any other accounts or websites that share your previous TuneCore password.

TuneCore takes data security very seriously, especially the security of our customers' personal and account information. TuneCore already had in place a number of security measures, including manual review of all requests for payment, restricting access to our main website and protecting account passwords. We are also working to further enhance our network and software security, and will continue to do so in the weeks and months ahead.

If you have any further questions, please refer to our FAQ page. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and promise that we are dedicated to keeping your information secure. We thank you for being a part of the TuneCore community, and appreciate the continued opportunity to serve you.

Respectfully,

Scott Ackerman
CEO, TuneCore

Whenever I hear the name TuneCore, I think about how a large number of friends who promote their music via YouTube lost a whole lot of playback revenue from unexpected and erroneous copyright claims stemming from TuneCore's unannounced affiliation with Indmusic.

So yeah, I don't have much respect for the company tbh.

.....or, it's a sly way to get you to think about and log back in to your tunecore account ;)

Think about it - I haven't heard tunecore mentioned in months but now it's on nearly every forum.

And unless someone can actually substantiate losses and damage, there's no chance of this costing them anything.

If any of you remember a few years back that cadbury announced a massive recall if chocolate bars over salmonella fears. It was all over the news in many countries and was said to affect over a million bars.

I have it in good authority that it was all a PR stunt. Not a single bar got recalled as the serial numbers if the affected chocolates didn't exist. Basically it just got a ton of global brand mentions. But it's bad press right? Now, it only affected a small number of their products and the brand could take a minor image hit (that everyone forgot about a month later) in exchange fur a large boost in sales because of the brand mentions.

Is love to know if anyone with a tunecore account actually saw any result if this "hack" lol

i have it on good authority that cadbury went to court over said pr stunt.

VWs emission hack is also a billion dollar pr stunt that will start paying off in 2080.
