I saw a bit of Bicep DJing this year and it wasn't really my thing. Very slow house with Innervisions-like, long drawn out melodies that don't go anywhere. I mean, it's not a terrible concept in theory, but if you chain that kind of stuff it just gets tedious. Obviously, they played better material than the Innervisions guys, but it ended up having the same kind of effect where after half an hour, you're just yawning and hoping for some more tempo and jacking rhythms.
RA just released their "best tracks" list and I think unsurprisingly, it's probably got the most quality out of all the list, since this really was a year of singles/twelve inches. With the ongoing reissue/digging/retro-mania, it's also fitting that the #1 track was originally released 11 years ago.
It also seems like Blockhead put out a new album this year. Entitled Bells and Whistles, if you guys are into heavily sampled amens with live instruments and nu-skool psychedelia.

I've mentioned it on here before, but I loved this EP all year.

Favorites of mine too, particularly Fjaak...been following them ever since I heard their track 'The Wind' last year. That Andrew Micheal track is a rare thing to happen nowadays.

Idk, I like Fjaak but some of my friends hate them, they say they're just ripping off Shed. I mean, it's hard to deny there's certainly a heavy influence there. I think they have enough of their own style but it's certainly not the most original stuff out there.
I didn't know the Creta Skano record, it's nice.
I'd probably need a month to make a comprehensive list like that, I've been buying so much this year and a lot of old stuff, it's all just been a big blur.
