Is this forum dead? Is there another forum like TA? (pg. 2)

Reddit can definitely be fun but I find it pretty lacking in personality. Independent boards tend to have more distinctive history and character, and also seem to have stabler userbases. Not to mention that the default mode for display on Reddit (threaded, with highest voted at the top) makes for a very different discussion dynamic.

The forum definitely needs to be upgraded to be mobile compatible while still maintaining the look/feel we've all become used to. It is very easy to simply install something out of the box but a formulaic-looking-clone wouldn't 'feel' like TA.

As for FB, the one thing that I miss most on here are the 'reviews' people would post after parties or events. There was something raw and genuine to it all... now, peeps will post a pic or a short video and say AMAZING OMG...#hashtag. Worse yet are the blogs that review these parties and 90% of the time write favourable thing because they want to maintain their media credentials for next time... so you don't know where to go for a genuine, objective writeup on what went down.

Not gonna happen. I even set things up years ago so that in case one day something happened to me the site would still go on funded for many years ...aka until everyone still posting from the original days would be talking about introducing their grandkids to Trance music.

Speaking of social networks, TA also has an instagram......but they dont post pictures frequently enough.

I run that Insta and I can't disagree with you - I am aiming for more posts in 2016. It is EASY to grab just any old dumb trance/electronic meme and post it but then that doesn't separate you from any of the other million accounts doing that stuff. I'm not against memes but they need to be somewhat unique or original.

What I find the most tacky are the EDM instas who just post nonstop pics of half naked 18 year old girls. Sure you get a ton of likes but it all seems so trashy to me.

vBulletin style forums in general are pretty web 1.0 by now, and titles like TranceAddict don't seem to attract as many post-2010 EDM neophytes as you might think* (and the ones that it does attract quickly realize that the name is all but satirical by now). The MD forum has always been more moderately paced than the others, and at this point it's 90% every conceivable variation on "which 1999 classic is your favorite/who was better in their prime (in 1999)", and 10% links to a hot new release you might have otherwise missed. Such as...

*EDIT: I guess it doesn't help that a Google search of "trance forums" turns up TA several down over on the second page.

You should allow people that follow it t o DM the account pictures of nights out, and if they are good enough, you can post those as well. I assume 85% of the people that follow are either us or legitimate and vetted fans. And the other 15% are neophytes that stumbled onto the account via the hashtag and searching trance in the search bar.

I attribute that to need for better on site SEO.

Also i checked and it seems that TA is running some facebook custom audience and google analytics scripts. If they wanted too, they could easily run facebook ads to a targeted audience and recruit new members. Same for Instagram and other social networks.

Ads have much higher ROI than organic social media posting,

Trouble with attracting new members is we always end up eating them alive within the first few posts. :(

the last that had to go was digitally imported. Its kinda sad where these electronica boards had to go. They used to be a vibrant community hosting winamp streams, exchanging party info/sets, dedicated 90s nostalgia trips or just goofing around in md. Those that are kinda around are now either ghosttowns, haven for bots or just plain ad revenue (GHF, philosomatika, Euroadrenalin, eurodancehits, di) RIP

I'm glad that tranceaddict is still around though after all these years. Even though i don't post much, it doesn't take alot to notice theres still a small thriving community keeping it altogether

and of course..
Thanks Swamper!

Oh wow, had no idea that DI pulled the plug on their forums. I suppose it makes a bit of sense, as DI has grown into a massive and reputable for-profit streaming service that probably wants to avoid being held in any way responsible for what happens on its forums, and cutting them is a whole lot less work than policing them.

Couldn't agree more, what really separated this forum for other places was the ability to get opinions on clubs/nights/festivals. This still occurs in the USA forums, but sad to see it gone from the main section.
