Why is it that I rarely hear DJs play a set of classics anymore -- am I the only one that's nostalgic for Techno music of the past?

I dont know why I am getting into this but my 2 cents is there is always differences of opinion and so forward, yet from what I had always been accustomed is hearing old school fillings into a majority of sets by all good good DJs spinning includes old school beats with the new. (not always) Its nobody's fault you cannot always identify the songs or loops you hear & yet some just want to hear old stuff too.
Victor Calderone used to play songs from 70's in the middle of his Crobar sets flawlessly mixed in for instance and there would be a handful who even knew the title. Just one example for you. So yeah, I always hear a good mixture of old school mixed into 90% of sets I hear even from new comers. Its all about influence, skills and taste at the end of the day but then there are those that want direct flashback into the past so its all good one way or the other. just 2 cents |

Denny Tsettos does one every soo often
Johnny Vicious also does a classics party

awesome...I've heard of Richie Santana and Johnny Vicious, but never checked out the Jersey scene except for a couple of trips AC (and those weren't really for the music) -- which clubs do they play at?
Yes, there are some good parties that I've been to over the years here, but it seems they are fewer and further between. (Gabriel & Dresden at Cielo was the most recent one in memory, was sweating balls there cuz the AC was broken and they ran out of fog for the fog machine an hour into the night????!...PVD @ governor's island a couple years ago was another great one, very memorable.)
and good point reenteenteen... i guess what made me nostalgic was checking out the soundcloud streams of the line-up for Awakenings this past weekend and then switching back to the classics. made me realize that I definitely love the old school techno more. ....just my opinion.

I love Danny Tenaglia. Very deep house. Saw him for the first time at Sensation @ the Barclays Center. BLEW. MY. MIND.
