Hey guys, I'm not a DJ or producer, but I was recommended to this forum by a member.
I'm doing a little promoting for a programmer friend who just launched a new music service, at www.songtwist.com.
Those of you in the know are probably aware that the vast majority of music services out there are treated like typical tech startups, and are entirely growth-centric. They pay exorbitant fees to record labels and artist aggregators for the right to use their music, all in the interest of gaining as many users as possible. As a result, Spotify has never been a profitable venture, and relies entirely on investor stimulus. Those costs are passed down to artists and subscribers, and limits those services from promoting less well-known artists.
The model Songtwist uses cuts out the middle man entirely, does not rely on investor funding, and is designed to promote new music. As an artist you sign over no rights, you can remove your music at any time, and the best part... you receive higher payouts. To get your music on Songtwist, all you need is the rights to the music, and all we need is your permission. There are no minimum content limits, no aggregators to go through, etc.
The platform was only launched yesterday (we have two whole singles up!), so we're looking for as many new artists as possible, and I'd really love to see this community represented. I'll be here to chat, for anyone who wants more info! |
