Dave King - Live @ Echo 17th Birthday Boat Party [Trance/Psy/Breaks]

This is a recording of my set from the Echo 17th birthday boat party at the last May bank holiday. It was a great party with a really up for it crowd. I was lucky enough to play a later set than my previous outings on the boat, so this is an hour of energetic, bouncy trance. Seemed to go down pretty well on the night and I hope you enjoy it to. It is a live recording rather than a reconstruction so please excuse the rather dodgy announcement, not sure who that guy is, sounds drunk to me...

Real high energy stuff man! I would have been drinking and dancing all night on this boat lol. The dodgy announcement didn't throw me at all, even if he did want everyone to go downstairs :p

I liked the variety of tunes, especially how you switched between trance and psybreaks, but to a certain degree it kinda s with your consistency. One moment you are bashing out a hands-in-the-air anthem and the next you are diving down the rabbit hole with some twisted psychedelics. So it can be a tad confusing from that front but overall I feel like if I was on that boat dancing I wouldn't have been paying attention and would have just been partying. :D

Anyway, nice work mate, I'm definitely going to queue this up next time I go running.

Really enjoyed listening back to this - brought back memories of a really fun party.

I had forgotten that you played quite so many break beat tunes - I was pretty tanked up and only remember the ones you payed towards the end

Indigo was the tune of the set, and actually the tune of the night for me. I remember a huge rush of adrenaline when you dropped that one

It's mad how many tunes you played in the first 30 mins though - was that pre-rehearsed at all?

Also, if you get the chance, would you mind sending me the MP3 of my set over?

Hey nick, thanks for taking to the time to listen, I owe you a review for your latest psy breaks one (which was awesome btw) but I want to listen through again before I do!

The boat parties tend to be quite hands in the air, the guy on before me was playing fairly standard uplifting stuff and the regular crowd go for it so I tend to just put the tip down the rabbit hole rather than going balls deep 😉

Jon, yes Indigo is a ing corker of a tune. Definitely one of corstens best and one of my all time faves. It was great to finally get to play it out haha! And Yeh actually a lot of the set was planned out beforehand. It all sort of came together in a mixing session the week before. I'm always a bit nervous about having too strict a plan but this seemed to fit pretty well!
