Hmmmm...I wonder if it was inadvertently leaked and then yanked. There's no mention of it on Prop's website. :conf:
Anyway, suffice to say that the feature list was pretty underwhelming. |

| That was a feature list? Looked more like a list of bug fixes :p |

You realize you're talking about the most stable major daw in existence right. |

I'll live with the one crash I have every 3 months in Live so I don't have to use Reason. |

Yeah, that's probably true, but tehlord isn't that far off. The feature list in that link was pretty minimal. |

Propellerheads have a reputation for only adding a small number of improvements and/or features for each release:
Reason 1.0 (2001): First version with 1 synth (Subtractor), 1 Sampler (nn-19), 1 loop player (Dr. Rex), 1 drum machine (ReDrum), a 14:1 mixer and 8 fx units (reverb, delay, filter, 2 band eq, compressor, phaser, chorus/flanger, foldback distortion) and CV sequencer.
Reason 2.0 (2002): Added Malstrom synth and NN-XT sampler + orchestral soundbank.
Reason 2.5 (2003): No new sound modules but added Scream4 distortion unit, Vocoder, RV7000 reverb, Unison FX and Spider Audio & CV splitters.
Reason 3.0 (2005): No new sound modules, added Combinator and MClass devices (Compressor, Maximizer, EQ and Stereo Width Processor). Minor changes to sequencer and added control surface options.
Reason 4.0 (2007): Added Thor synth, RPG8 CV arpeggiator, ReGroove mixer. Minor sequencer improvements.
Reason 5.0 (2010): Drops Dr. Rex in favor of newer Dr. Octorex, Added Kong drum machine, Neptune vocal pitch corrector, added ability to sample direct to selected devices and also integrates with the short-lived Record software (Oct 2009).
Reason 6.0 (2011): Dropped Record, can now record multichannel audio. No new sound modules but added Alligator gate fx, Pulverizer compressor/distortion fx and The Echo delay fx, Line6 Guitar and Bass amp sims. Sequencer updated to allow audio recording channels. Brand new mixer inspired by SSL K-series (inherited from Record). Audio rendering engine updated to 64 bit.
Reason 6.5 (2012): Same as v6.0 but opens up the rack to third-party devices known as Rack Extensions.
Reason 7.0 (2013): No new sound modules but finally added support for external MIDI functionality. Spectrum analyser/EQ window and also subgroups added to SSL mixer. Audio timestretch with 3 different algorithms and transient-based audio quantizing feature added.
Reason 8.0 (2014): File browser updated, GUI refreshed. No new sound modules but bundles two Softube bass and guitar amp sim Rack Extensions to compensate for pending removal of Line6 devices. Added ability to upload music to Discover (now named Allihoopa)
Reason 8.2 (2015): Minor bug fixes. Added support for online updates. Updated RV7000 to support impulse reverbs.
Only a couple of those releases I would consider to be significant. The rest are somewhat 'meh' and can easily be skipped until the next significant update. Reason 8 was extremely 'meh', so with a bit of luck Reason 9 will be another significant update. |
