plucky bassline

im trying to recreate that plucky bassline you hear common in a lot of deep house tracks lately, basically im having problem creating that sharp metallic almost percussive attack portion , i tried automating the pitch with the a short decay and its not really sounding right in my attempts..

do you guys have any tips? do most producers just layer sounds in this case with a sub bass ? how would you go by it ? it seems like a pretty simply sound to recreate but i guess its not for me..

Layered bass, first one kinda like a normal trance pluck (saws) and also the old M1 organ bass in the background.

Then compress/transient shape to taste.
