As promised, name and shame those techno trendsters who used to make their deutschmarks dishing out cheesy bollocks.
First up, man of the moment Stephan Bodzin, currently a critical darling thanks to his Power Of Ten album:
Once upon a time, one half of untz-untz specialists Kaycee. I doubt he drops this very often these days:
I'm sure there are plenty more out there. Anyone?

Oh, can't forget Kompakt hero Kolsch, who's graced the tracklists of everyone from Laurent Garnier to Michael Mayer to Andrew Weatherall:
...He's also the man who gave us the, erm, "unforgettable" 2007 chart hit Calabria, taken from an album called Raggatronic:
kosmotika
Not sure if this counts, but this...
...came from the same guy that made this:

Probably less surprising that the guys behind Snap! would make this, but try convincing all those Cocoon disciples their Lord and Savior Papa Sven was the vocalist for OFF:

Whether you think Jam El Mar's productions were cheesy or class over the years, you cannot deny his first single was rather... different.

I was going to post Sven Vath, but he's such an outlandish figure he's not really afraid of his cheesy past - he still drops Mind Games occasionally.
Similarly Mr C, now safely ensconced as a clubbing heavyweight thanks to running The End, championing tech house in the '90s and continuing to lay down high quality underground house-acid-tech sets worldwide, is a colourful enough character to take ownership of his Shamen days without cringing. Still, can't see him dropping this one any time soon:
Sand Leaper
I read somewhere that Vince Watson isn't too happy about attention being drawn to his happy hardcore beginnings. The stuff isn't completely horrible, though. It's just very, very formulaic.
Unless you count this nonsense, of course:
Vector A
Omg that Jingle Bells track. :haha:

Haha, magnificent. I was not aware of this.
Woony
Techno deity Moritz von Oswald in his earlier days - although it's not that cheesy considering almost everything Neue Deutsche Welle is ing ridiculous looking back.
That first Vince Watson hardcore record apparently is from '95. He had a detroit record on Rotation in '96, which appeared on a Stacey Pullen mix. Going from happy hardcore to detroit techno in year would never happen today :stongue:

Can probably find a lot of very important people in the world of techno starting out making New Beat or hardcore rave. Here's Kompakt honcho Wolfgang Voigt as Centrifugal Force, with a track called Trancesexual Healing:
