| theres a lot of ppl who USED to like tiesto, when he played good sets, produced amazing uplifting tunes and so on, and had he been voted no1 then, we wouldn't mind, but after pathetic attempts to conquer other genres, and losing a lot of his older fans plus his arrogance that lots of ppl bring up about not signing things and being a bit of a tit, I think we're quite entitled to flame him cos he's abandoning the ppl who loved his style for a newer bunch of sluts to worship him & bow down before his sold out ass |

Tiesto came to our student party (in Kremlin). He should have played 2 hours, but after he came too late for 30 minutes he decided it was good enough to stay for 1.5 hours.
He put down a set with some terrible ambient tracks on which it was impossible to dance. When he saw the lame reactions in the crowd, he played lethal industry about 4 times.
After one of the resident DJ's took over, finally the party got started.
30 minutes after he left we heard he said something like 'these students don't understand music'. I cannot confirm this but looking at the way things went that night, I would guess it could be true.
This party took place on a thursday, so he couldn't be tired or something like that.
I just got a bad taste in my mouth from this. Maybe it was an incident...?
I'll give him a second change on November 9th :)

i'll agree with that much.
Tiesto is still decent, just nothing to compared to what he WAS. |

Look "Dj-Steve", I wont let you pull me down to your low level of communication (no arguments but personal attacks).
Firstly I'd suggest you reading CAREFULLY before responding. If you read what I wrote u wouldnt have said "ALL OF THESE BELONG TO THE PAST" since I mentioned THIS year's dutch dimension set (should I look for the huge thread from february where the entire forum cried out of joy proclaiming this would be THE set of the year?). Personally I find his development admirable. Long before 1999's Trance hype the man started his beautiful Magik series and ever since his productions and sets have had a huge impact on the scene. Those who bash him for changing his style seem to be no real tiesto fans in the first place. You can't say Tiesto 2000 was better, you can merely say that you find the style he played then more enjoyable then today's mix of trance progressive and a bit of tech-trance. The Dj stayed the same though. He as an artist has all the rights to express himself the way HE wants to. Some will always dislike it but as long as he stays "real" it's okay with me. Go read some Interviews and see by yourself why he decided to become a more "eclectic" DJ.
As for PVD you dont have to tell me, boy. I saw him three times live (once at the LP 2002 mentioned by you) so dont try to make me look like some1 whos got no clue of what he writes. I respect PVD, a lot even..and as for productions hes on the same level as Tiesto IMO but dj-wise I *personally* prefer Tiesto. Objectively his sets simply influenced th Trance scene more than PVD's. |

After a few months without the obvious "Van Duck - Tiesto" bashing threads, the flaming has started again.
This proofs again that DJ Mag is an evil magazine which should be banned by TranceAddicts. |
yeah man that magazine is gay.... you can't rank world class djs...
they're all awesome....
the magazine should instead rate dj's according to the span of they're sets .. eg how many different (and new) venues did a dj play at ... or by genre .... and then have like grades of each one... like tiesto and pvd are A grade trance djs who play all across europe and the americas and west asia...
something like that...
simple ranking provokes a lot of angst amongst folks like us....
:D :D ;) |
