This is a regional language movie and the story is based in a rural Indian setting. The theme is actually pretty serious - honor killing of a young couple due to differences in their socio-economic class. All actors in this movie are first-timers. One of the songs from this movie has become a viral hit across India for it's energetic music and boisterous dancing...

Name of the movie is "Sairat" which literally means "Wild". Name of the song is "Zingaat" which literally means being in a drunk state :D

The original track has professional music quality. Rest are video recording quality...

And the variants...

In movie theaters

Gigs

Stadiums

:wtf: :wtf:

Bollywood - Super Stars - Madhuri Dixit etc.

And you will find many more silly videos on Youtube :D

The music director(s)/singer(s) - Ajay & Atul - are some of the most successful people in the film music industry. Some of the tracks from this movie were recorded at LA by the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra - a first for any Indian movie. Below would be a beautiful example of one such melodious compositions...

Hey, this is so catchy! :D

While we're at it, I want to make clear my view that I firmly believe you all have these dance moves embedded in your genes before. Or it's something in the water all life long. There's got to be a scientific explanation for a whole country being able to produce such catchy music even if you can't all speak the same language. There's this Marathi goodness you showed, a Telugu song right here (can you understand anything they're saying at all?!)...

... the world's most famous Hindi hit...

... And India's greatest Punjabi classic:

Tunda-da-da! :D

I can speak only Marathi and Hindi...and understand a bit of Gujarati and some Oriya, only because that is my wife's language. Other than that, you and I are at the same level of understanding of other languages :D

The dance in the videos I have posted is nothing more than pure local street dance. There's nothing more to it. That's obviously not what defines Indian dance culture. The telgu video that you've posted is a quirky movie dance form which is much appreciated by audience in the southern states of India. No where else. Dalher Mehndi video has the famous Punjabi dance form which is more widely seen due to it's prevalence in Bollywood movies.

So yeah, there's a huge regional variety and not everybody digs into every form of dance and music. On one end is the traditionally rich and ancient classical dance culture of kathak, bharatnatyam etc. On the other, you have the contemporary Bollywood dance, then the dance from south-indian movies etc. And then there's the street dance which is on the other end of the dance spectrum. It's essentially how untrained local people dance and that too in marathi-speaking state of Maharashtra, when they get drunk and let go!!
