I took this from another board, this is what Nick Warren had to say about it...
" thanks to the few people who considered my placing as low, but it really is of no significance , what alot of you are unaware of is that a large number of high profile dj's employ the services of a pr agent , this costs the dj on average between £500 and £1000 pounds per month to make sure they are constantly in the press, on radio and basically in the public eye at all times, i have allways been of the opinion that if i have a product ( ie cd ) to sell then do the press and media but dont want my ugly mug in the magazines month in and month out , what ever your opinion of tiesto he is probably the most popular dj in the world and doing a big stadium tour as he did recently in the states projects him to the kind of people who like to vote , but dont get downhearted ( what shocked me was layo and bushwacka"s placing ) just go out and see the people you like , dont get caught up in all this doom and gloom about the busines and feckin enjoy yourselves
love you all ( even the miserable colarado lot )

| Well said. There's a difference between "best" and "most popular". |

Ah well...whatever the sympathies of such a contest are...it's fun to see where the djs you chose wind up :) And yes, I DID choose Nick Warren as well ;)
Just as Ashley Caselle, Matt Hardwick and Paul van Dyk ;) |

good to see that most of the best djs are still staying "underground" for the music and not going commercial for the money :)
*/me is glad he's a technoaddict* |

Sounds like somebody's a bit jelous! :D :D I don't know much about nick warrens sets, but I really like way out west. I've really been getting into it a lot recently. I know this guy likes to bash trance quite a lot, even tho he produces it:rolleyes: I like Nick Warren and you might think he's talking sense, although would he be saying the same thing if he got to No.1??
...and Dumonde, why have you got a pic of John Leslie in your avatar?:conf: I'm guessing it's something to do with the Ulrika thing right? |

| its true some of the best djs arnt popular at all ......popularity and skill doesnt relate to each other as much as people think......but nothing agaist nick ..he has great taste in music one of the best djs as in taste for music and the stuff he plays ....but he lacks in skill and programming ...he isnt all that great in that aspect. |

Very firmly seconded, every issue that revolves around the DJs are constantly bombarded by the muzik press (whether they are paid or not).
I've met Nick when he was down in TO several months back. Very nice chap, lovely English accent and very very good at the PR-ing job I must say. He was here to play and promote the release of "WOW-Intensify" Album and GU's Amsterdam CD...
Must be a year ago....lol
Anyways....all these bickering about numbers ain't worth anyone's time... |
