Several of those tracks come out of the Max Martin machinery and he's got that down to a ing science (and seeing as he's only behind Lennon and McCartney in No1 hits, it's obviously working). It's all patterns that the great unwashed naturally bounce around to and absorb, like those lemmings you see lining up when Apple release a new i-.
