You suck though, and won't acknowledge prog trance. Tracks like this... you were missing out. I loved the unicorn too, but not like this.
eat , scifi-TV noob!
i listened/"acknowledged" this track last time you posted it. it's ok, but doesn't get my motor running. old school prog isn't my thing coz i don't like the melodies. but old school mcprog is 2016's prog (don't kill me jack!) and that stuff has really been hitting the spot.
gai barone has had a stellar 2016 and this is the best trance track i've heard in ages, genre definitions be damned.

You don't like old prog melodies, but THAT'S the song you go and like? :wtf: So watered down.
I feel like you're a lost cause, but then I remember that I like Roxette :stongue:

Andy Moor/2000's Tilt/Leama & Moor were a huge staple for my trance voyage in 04-06. Even if twinkle Prog got a bad rep here, that sound plus the cut-up vocals they'd use would always take me places. Sadly, I don't really play most of what he/they made anymore, but the Leama and Moor remix of Stage One and The Seventh Planet still finds its way on my latest playback devices.

Hadn't heard this remix before, the Perfecto version usually does it for me. But oh man, got the trance shivers again. Gonna have to put that in my "box." :p

And I like to think that's the music you use to attract birds.
Oh, Stu, I'd love to go to Australia and learn your ways... If only I weren't married and had no more use in attracting birds :(

The thing is, nobody is filing this stuff under "trance"*. It's "trancey". That's not the same as being lumped in with the self-contained and increasingly irrelevant trance music scene. Guy J and Khen are progressive, Chymera and Dundov are techno. But they're all trancey.
*Except my mate who loves disco house and calls anything "trance" if it has so much as a single arpeggio.
good to see someone else noticed... trancesque, i call it. i have tons of examples.
topic incoming methinks (and why is this one in cor?!)

Because this time I wanted the input of the COR on this. After all, there's been an ever broadening rift between the MD regulars and the COR, with only a few having bridged the gap such as System-J, wotyzoid and RANN. If I had posted in MD, it would have gone unnoticed by the forumongers here, and I was curious to see if the wiseguy corians still serenaded out to trance.
If only Ted Promo was still around. I would have been most interested to hear which Dad he dadded the most as fluttering supersaws and arpeggios pervaded the air. :sadgreen:

You're behind the times, mate. It's become the in thing to drop a pitched-down trance classic into the mix. Notable examples of big DJs doing it recently include Nina Kravitz, Bicep, Patrice Baumel, Space Dimension Controller... even Sasha has overcome his crippling embarrassment about what he played in the '90s and has been sighted dropping Age Of Love and Sacred Cycles. It's becoming such a trend that the obligatory Wunderground parody has sprung up: http://wundergroundmusic.com/all-dj...e-song-by-2017/
what, for real? here i thought i was being clever dropping greece 2000 at 120bpm during a house set- just editing out the, imo, cheesy part of the track where the second half adds that staccato synth guitar strumming over the main groove. the bassline groove an the open hat patten is instantly recognizable and i still think is groovy.
as for the thread subject i still think Holden & Thompson's Nothing (93 returning mix) and Kamaya Painters - Far From Over (oliver lieb remix) are still ace.
edit- also, anyone else think the netflix series "Stranger Things" theme song is totally derivative of Quivver - Stage One (part 3)? it's even in the same key, if my ears don't deceive.

ooh mcprog is making a comeback? markus schulz coldharbour mix 2016? Jump The Next Train Probspot re-remix 2016? harhar.
does everyone in the know still hate on Deadmau5? because ffs it seems like him and David Guetta and Laidback Luke are mega popular with the pop crowd nowadays. I still remember watching a livestream of Sensation White 2005 (i think) with Laidback Luke and Guetta and it was by far the WORST sets i've ever heard- especially Guetta. literally his set consisted of playing tracks to their entirety, hitting stop. then playing the next track. IIRC he had to start-stop during Guy Gerber's "Stoppage Time" (remember that one?) and he basically just started it back up and continued to jump up and down in place clapping with his hands above his head. it was hilarious.
i see Tiesto is still big too with all the pop kids which is hilarious because none of us ever took him seriously post like, 1995, and I still remember all the flak he got for spinning terrible livesets and claiming that the reason why he trainwrecked so much was because he switched to CDs and that CDJs were harder to mix with and he had to get used to them, which, anyone who actually knows how to DJ knows that CDJs are 50x easier to use than actual decks.
